Well, here's Aberville Field by night time, Migs with nav lights on, and the field light up marking out the runway. It took a little bit of work, but got there in the end, they can be seen from about 3 miles out but not very well from the sides, just set them to show up best when your pointing straight down the runway in the right direction, come in from the wrong end and they aren't visible at all. Shame about the trees, but thats what Alpha textures do in dark missions, the only way to change it would be to make the trees much darker. Anyway, onto the far to big pics (I need to setup IfranView properly again)

Looks great!! But if they were set up like that wouldn't an airplane break the bulb? Why not have two rows, one on each side of the runway? Why dont you just do something like this to make them more visible.... my idea, instead of an "I" like shape from above, make two of the same lods cross like an "x" Then you should be able to see them from all angles. Or, make the light LODs constantly face the viewpoint of the player, ie, make them a billboard by giving them an obBillboard [‘X | ’Y |’Z] prop, just like how the individual trees are setup.Nice work btw ------------------ Visit FS:SDOE Online [This message has been edited by Harman_5 (edited 05-27-2001).] IP: Logged |

well, OK, I spent about 30 mins adding them, the reason I didn't make them billboard was because I didn't want them visible from evey angle, I actualy wanted them to guide you down the runway and not be seen if you come in the wrong way. I don't think an aircraft could have hit them if built into the runway, well, atleast on todays airports they 747's don't damage them anyway, so I don't think a small prop fighter would I did ask in another thread exactly how runway lights were setup during the war, so once I know then I'll set them that way as best I can, but for now this shows how they look IP: Logged |

guys it is a total simple idea: Add the light tifs to the airfield and then lighten up the terrain tif at this area. Ok i want to talk with Nat about the situation to see whats his opinon. But again, i´m busy this week and then i have to finished Bavaria (needs 2-3 days) before i can go on working on other stuff.Rendsburger IP: Logged |
