I guess the title says it all. Tomorrow night we will try another night of flying missions using the 1.5.2.8 Patch. Next week, who knows, maybe we will have a NEW Patch to fly with. The setup that seems to work best is to remove your aircraft folder completely. This to eliminate the mismatches which are caused by everyone having different cockpits etc. The only problem is that planes like the wonderful P38F, etc could then not be flown. We can do a work around on this, but before we do I need to see who would like to fly tomorrow night, and which aircraft besides those in 6.0 would you like to fly? I know Razer had mentioned the Val. If we can come to something close to a concensus, I'm sure we can whip something up for tomorrow. So, who of you are going to fly? Or are do you all just talk about flying? PR=FC= p.s. unless it mets with objections (and maybe even if it does) the time will be 9:00 p.m.CST. GMT-6 IP: Logged |

PsiGreat! Razer Where can I find the Val? I have downloaded and installed PP6.1 It seems to be an easy fix to get rid of the changes and go back to PP6.0 if need be. I'll see if I can throw a few missions together with various amounts and kinds of planes. PR=FC= IP: Logged |

Just a suggestion, If you want to use pp6.1 put the new parfiles in a folder (call it pp61) in the openplane folder. It's a quick way to enable the pack or turn it off if you have problems. ------------------ Spin Visit Spin's Planepack Site to learn more about planepack V6.0 and ongoing development of the planepack IP: Logged |

O.k. and SDOE concensus has been reached! Which is to say a few of you think we should go with PP6.1 and then add the Val to the mix. Razer has kindly provided the link.I have a few missions made for tonight. So, to recap, here's what we will need for tonight besides the obvious of SDOE, 1.5 patch, and Nations 2.0... 1)PP6.1 2)Val 3)Patch V. 1.5.2.8 If I left anything out let me know. Otherwise I'll see all you guys tonight at 9:00 CST. I might be on a bit earlier, so watch the Patch lobbies! PR=FC= [This message has been edited by Private Roger (edited 05-21-2001).] IP: Logged |

Thanks go out to Psi, Silverfox, and Condor! I had a great time flying with you guys last night, if only briefly. The turnout for the Monday Night Patch Flight was small, only 4 of us, but the play was good. The Host still seems to suffer the most with the 1.5.2.8 version of the patch in terms of CTD, and mysterious lockups, in what I have always refered to as the 'Ready Room' (the place you launch the mission from). The good news is the CTD's appear to be all but gone for the other participants. I'll be on next Monday with possibly a NEW version of the Patch to test. If the turnout is as spartan as the last 2 weeks however it will be my last Monday night. As great of a game as SDOE is online in terms of stability and the numbers of fliers who can participate, it's a mystery to me more of you guys don't take part in this. Ah well, guess I'll just add that to all the other mysteries in my life PR=FC= IP: Logged |

Since you do so much for this sim no one but maybe siggi would have the balls to say this: Your far out of touch with SDOE online if you are quiting because you "only" had four people show. Sure you have alot at SW but you have no idea how few people fly outside of SW. Four is a great time and your lucky to have them! If everyone dispared of only having 3 guys to fly with then no msns would be flown Sunday-Friday. Great Ideas don't allways go the way you want. Your turn out may be helped if you kill the Neon Sky. I notice you didn't reply to the e-mail I sent you about tips on mybe getting better looking skys...this is ok, but hopefully you figured out that atleast some have no desire to fly the skys of mars.Don't start things you don't intend to follow through and give it time to grow. I didn't make it last night but I was looking forward to actually finding someone to fly with outside of sundayafternoons and SW. Shame if you don't stick it out...why should we bother if your going to flop on it so soon. When I finally organize my little on-line mini-war... I don't care if only two show. Fracca gets a bomber and an escort I am limited to 2 kills per msn but hey we would have fun...er right Fracca? : )

GluckHuh? That's my general reply to your post. More to the point, what email? What Neon Sky? If you didn't like the color of the skies, no problem, but I am learning the combination of colors as I go along, sometimes I may pick combinations that appear to be garish to someone with your obvious fine tastes. I may be out of touch with the SDOE community. I have only been around a few years. Maybe it's passed me by in favor of the younger talents as yourself. I didn't say in my post I was quiting SDOE. I said if the turnout continued to be as spartan as the last few days I would discontinue my involment in the organised Monday night flying. I do have a little bit of a life outside of SDOE if thats o.k. with you. Thanks though for taking the time to post your comments. PR=FC= IP: Logged |

I got there late, but as PSI said, we all had fun. I didn't see many CTDs either. The only weird thing I had was the slow voice wavs at times. The flashing clouds are still there, but they were there before the patch. The games we had were really smooth, and Archer and PSI took my 109 down with no problems. I hope to get some games in later tonight. Gremlin hosted a night mission, but I want to see some dawn and dusk stuff. Thanks again to the sv, pang, Bryon, and all that worked on the patch. OK let me try to put it better and nicer. I do wish I had been less of a jerk in that post but they way you feel the need to dump the monday night gig pissed me off. But hey 8 years waffling from Bill pissed me off too so I am used to it lol. Because you are a ever a gentleman I do feel bad about this...but I also feel strongly about this monday night patch testing and your bailing on it before it even gets going. As far as being around a few years...so have I. My old handle was Confusion: sometimes with an LG13 or JG2 attached. I never saw you on-line until these SWs. I have seen you post for many years though. I just perfer flying to posting so you may have mistaken me for a "young" pup. quote you if you don't mind..."If the turnout is as spartan as the last 2 weeks however it will be my last Monday night." Yes you are out of touch with sdoe "ONLINE". You can post for years and never have a clue what is happening to the game up on the servers. You are probably the most "in" touch with this forum or maybe even SDOE as a whole. My 1st post says "sdoe online" QED on that. Four people is a good game nowadays for SDOE online. You can't see that and call it spartan and want to bail. Yes I was there for the kopper bounus (he was allways to laggy, good thing Hawk didnt) and all that. That was the past. Truth is many times no ones even on during the times you could allways find a game. Four people is a good showing for SDOE and you are lucky to have them. I went to the trouble of getting the patch and getting the 38f and having to recreate my joystick profile everytime I switch between the patch and normal. I did this because I thought we were going to fly monday nights and get this game improved. Sure you didn't twist my arm. And for me its not that big of a deal because I thought it would be worth it. PSI went through 1/2 game hell but stuck with it...bailing because you didn't win a mr popularity contest (hehe I ant winning any I am sure attacking sdoes most upstanding citzen) Its kind of a slap in the face I would imagin to the people who strugled in 1/2 hell to get with you and help the game out. I guess if you had been one of those 1/2 speeders you would have bailed before you got most of the online guys into the patch. Hehe Moses you led us to the red sea and now your going to just quit...thats the heart of it. You were the leader of the patch movment...You probably still are...just assumed you had alot more resolve..my mistake. "it's a mystery to me more of you guys don't take part in this." Yes you are out of touch..outside of SW very few people fly this sim much ONLINE...HELLO..4 is a great showing nowadays..but thats not good enough for you I know....sad but true. So I can hear you go..."but the SW"..is at time when both sides of the ocean can fly. You would have been better to do it sunday afternoons. "I do have a little bit of a life outside of SDOE if thats o.k. with you." Sure thats fine heh. If you would have said you had to quit monday nights because (insert RL thing here) This post would have never happened. You are quiting because not enough people are showing up not because of outside things..if we take what you said at face value..which I do because you seem to be a very upstanding fellow. Also, you chose to spend atleast some time posting..which is your choice. Post less fly more online and you will still have the same amount of outside time..and would know how lucky you are to have 4 people to fly with. I just noticed I repeated the thing about 4 people to much...sorry about that : ) Ah the email. Its about the sky color and was mailed on the 17th of this month. From ungluecksrabe@hotmail.com Title : The Patch. I would think if atleast one person took the time to e-mail you about it..and also try to help. Then maybe some of that "mystery" may have been people wanted to test the patch but not on mars. It was a private e-mail but I will cut and paste it here. Good night gentleman. The E-mail below as orginally sent --------------------------------- Dear Sir, Hello from 9./JG2 Unglücksrabe. I am also known as Shark-26AC for SW. I admire the way you take a leadership role in the SDOE community. We are a group with very diverse ideas which in some ways hurts the sim. (I quit sdoe for a year during the great madness right before the plane contest...a new download near every night if you wanted to fly on-line) You are pushing the patch and wow your making progress in getting people to fly it. This is a good thing and you have my support! One thing I would like to let you know in private though is my concern for the color of the sky in the patch. I do understand its new and so maybe the settings are not perfected yet, but atleast in the msns I flew the sky was LOUD and was close to being painful to the eyes to look at good amounts of time. As an artist I know exactly what is wrong. The sky was a "pure" color not a tint. In nature you would never see a color 0,0,255 (assuming this is the format your using) In nature the sky is blue yes but not neon. If you were to "paint" a blue sky you would be mixing blue with white and or grey and or..tiny bit of orange to cut the intensity down. I do have to admit I have seen some night skys that were much purer than a daytime sky but even then the croma was not as intense as what you would get using just strait blue in an RGB monitor sceme. Try maybe 1/2,1/2,1 ratio to kill the intensity of the RGB blues for the sky. Maybe 20,20,40 etc. It will still be blue as long as the last is greater. Thank you for your time, Lorenz

IMO I and the both of you know that whenever there is a new addon feature in SDOE it leads to differences in opinion. I understand both of what your trying to say here. Like I said in an earlier post (I won't quote myself I'll just say it again. This is complex to some of us and I know that whenever we add something there will be those that are reluctant to dive into them. The more that the patch is used the more it will be used, this is very new guys, give it a chance. While we learn about the patch by using it it will get better and better, just like all the other stuff that has been done here. Just chill a moment and we can all get back on track with the important things. Ya know there is a new patch release scheduled and there again I for one will be a little hesitant to abandon what I have now in lieu of a new patch, hell I just got this to work. So lets all just kick back and see what developes. Your both great guys and I admire you both (sept when I get shot down ) What I'm trying to say is hang in there, (smiley wink goes here)P IP: Logged |

Gluck, you are more out of touch with SDOE than you say PR is. Saturday there were between 6 & 8 people on line for well over 2 hours. As some left ,others stepped in to fill their shoes. Besides, it's late spring in the northern hemisphere- online gaming for all games sees some kind of drop during this period. In January and February there were numerous times where we had 16 people in a game. On two different occasions there were more than 16 and we had to get 2 games going. Heck, I ran 3 newbie nights where we had 2-4 newbies and 4 or more experienced people willing to act as cannon fodder. Now for Private Roger- don't get discouraged, you are dealing with: 1. Time of year- lot's of people get involved in outdoor activities 2. "Testing"- this word makes a lot of people hesitant about joining in. This isn't the only place that suffers from the spring/summer phenomana. Attendance in my karate class drops by HALF or more from about may until the beginning of September, and this is the average drop in most programs during the summer. Even if the adults aren't doing something themselves, if they have kids, they're taking them to soccer practice, little league, etc. The testing of the patch has always had a small turn out. But that is a good thing because it's usually been people with LOTS of SDOE experience. Wait until a version of the patch is adopted as the on-line std and you'll be amazed how many people will be playing. So take heart PR- you're doing the community a much needed service. Ignore the slams and accept a very well deserved pat on the back. Chin up! Tally -ho . . . . . . ------------------ ------------------------ Which end does the propeller thingy go on? Glug, Psi Da Wing..et allO.k. I'm not sure why I didn't get Glugs email, but I assure you I didn't. I have changed it recently, but I updated my forum profile and I check to be sure it was correct. It is. Heck, if I'm out of touch with the world of SDOE either online or offline then I can accept that. I have never claimed to be an expert on all things SDOE. I couldn't build a plane if I wanted to, I can't skin a plane worth a darn, I don't know jack about damage modelling or Flight Modelling. I can make a decent mission at times (except when they have neon colors), but not much else. If you want an expert on all around SDOE general knowledge, I'm sure that person will speak up. All I can do is beat the drum and try to get a little excitement about new features and innovations. Thats it! Sometimes I will succeed, other times I fail. I have learned to accept my limitations Glug, maybe you should to. Tell ya what, come to the next Monday Patch Flight, I'll let ya shoot me down.
