I took this from an interview with the team who are converting SDOE to the Mac:

Heineman has been doing a thorough optimization of the game's code. On his GeForce2 MX-equipped 667MHz Power Mac G4,http://www.fightersquadron.com/ubb/icons/icon10.gif he's seeing approximately twice the frame rate the original game could produce running on a 1GHz PC-compatible.http://www.fightersquadron.com/ubb/icons/icon10.gif It's also quite playable -- in the 30 frame per second range -- on a slot-loading iMac running at 350MHz.

I was eager to play this game; now i'm starting to feel bad (couldn't sleep anymore.) lol

yea but how many planes in the air?

I can get 30 with 12 planes flying on my 733 with V5, though i'm sure the Geforce runs faster he should get way more then 30. really wish we knew how many planes was int he mission he used to test.

I believe the Altivec in the G3-G4 could be used to really boost all the floating point math in FS. If the Altivec's instructions can be used in the physics modeling in SDOE, it would get a lot faster, since SDOE's frame rate is math-bound instead of polygon-bound.

After all these years I hope they take the time and add all the Mac-specific goodies they can. A month or two here or there isn't going to make a difference for me. Go AltiVec!

So an iMac is the minimum supported machine?

I guess that if an iMac 350 can stand 30fps, it means that lower machines can still run it (at lower fps)
