This way please...Well, the Ground Pack is going along nicely. It should be ready by the end of May. Snake suggested I should release some of the vehicles to keep you guys busy while I finish the pack itself. I've though about this, and what the hey, why not. It's just not fair to keep you people waiting while I post screenshot after screenshot... I'm going to release two vehicles from the pack, both German, because the vehicles of mine currently released at simFiles and my site are all Allied, so this should help balance things out. The two vehicles in this demo are: * Hanomag Sd Kfz 7 And especially for you Commando, sir: * BMW R75 Motorcycle & Sidecar I think you'll find it to your liking Both of these vehicles are, well, complete, however, there maybe a need for some minor tweaking here and there, so I'm open to any bug issues or other problems they may have. The vehicles in this demo come with their training and hangar missions, GUI pics and stats, and also a full complement loadout weapon wise. The Hanomag Sd Kfz 7 also has the 8cm Mortar among heaps of other options in its loadout for those with a sweet tooth for artillery. The BMW comes with a rider and an MG34 machine gun. I have been having some problems getting "gunRemote" to work on the BMW. I want the gunner viewpoint to work, and the only the gun to turn, but haven't succeeded If anyone with a techie mind can look at the BMW and perhaps show me how to achieve gunRemote, I would appreciate it greatly. PLEASE READ THE READMES that come with the pack, you'll have to add some lines to your startup.ppf to get the Mortar and Panzerfaust to work in SDOE. As well as this, there are some people to thank in the credits, please view them. Well, that's it for now, you'll find the Ground Pack Demo at my site (URL in sig), or you can click the link below to take you to the download link topic in the "Downloads" section of this board: http://www.fightersquadron.com/ubb/Forum13/HTML/000405.html Installation of the pack is for now, not by installshield as the final release will be, because the demo is only about 1.98MB in size. Enjoy! (and remember to please report any bugs or other issues you find, thanks) ------------------ Visit FS:SDOE Online IP: Logged |

Thanks guys Werner, yes, I did manage to get the H & D BMW sounds too, but I forgot to add them to the credits , it's only a demo anyway. I've just tried the demo pack on my other computer and noticed something that wasn't apparent when testing on my 'OpenPlane' computer...the BMW viewpoint is fouled slightly by the riders' helmet. I've fixed this small prob and a fix is available for those who can't ride with that annoying helmet in the way. Get the fix here: http://members.nbci.com/harman_5/sidecardriverSit.zip Simply unzip this file and place it into: "Media\Pilot\" in your SDOE install directory. It should overwrite the existing file. ------------------ Visit FS:SDOE Online IP: Logged |

Harman, GREAT!!!! These are amazing!!!!!!A few small suggestions: Can you by any chance increase the stability with the Hanomag Sd Kfz 7. She seems to slide around a bit much at high speeds. (How fast did she go anyhow?) Also can you make the front 2 wheels have a greater distance from the front fenders? They seem to be riding up the fenders too much like when you go over a bumb or something. The BMW is sweet!!!!!!!!!! Im greatly impressed with that. Also I didnt expect the track wheels to turn on the Hanomag, thats friggin awesome!!!!! P.S. Dont forget to check the lower lvl lods with these babies. Some seem to be incorrect or switch out too soon. I noticed this with the older jeep and a few of the vehicles you released last time. IP: Logged |

Thanks Psi Argon, I appreciate the feedback. About the Hanomags' stability, it originally was impossible to steer, because the rear track wheels were so close to the steering road wheels, so I made the forward-most track wheels ptMaterial 'metal so they could 'slide' more and let the steering wheels turn the vehicle better. I noticed the excessive sliding too, I'll make a few more of those track wheels 'rubber. The top speed was around 50-60mph from what I can gather. I noticed the front wheels fouling the fenders too, the vehicle does sit with the front end lower than the rear though, so I guess a little elevation of the front axle and possibly making the front suspension a little stiffer is in order too. Great to see you like those track wheels turning, it took a lot of work to get them to rotate at the same time, all the other tracked vehicles in the pack will have this detail too The only thing I can see that needs work on the BMW right now is the top speed, it was around 55mph in real, it goes just a tad slower than that in SDOE. I hear ya on those lower LODs too, the M3 Halftrack in particular was a prob when I released it before, that's fixed now, but I'll through each vehicle again just to make sure. Thanks heaps for your feedback Argon, and thank you Razer ------------------ Visit FS:SDOE Online

Well drove up to 2000 ft, turned round and let it rip, at 60+ mph engine let go, 85 mph explosion and black smoke but still steered, got it up to 133 mph but steering did not change direction LOL then coasted to halt. Great work Harman, now for an Isle of Man terrain and a selection of 2 wheelers and we can run a TT race LOL. IP: Logged |

Harman, I found that if you stiffen up the dofSpring on the sidecar wheel axel and give it 0.4 and -0.4 DOF movement, you can increase the stability. IP: Logged |

Cheers guys,Lol, 133mph! That's faaaasssst Cheers Pye, lol! Thanks for that Argon, I'll try it out. Hemi, open your "startup.ppf" file inside your media folder and add the lines below to it: "aircraft/weapons/mortar80.sm" "aircraft/weapons/pnzrfst.sm" Now you should be able to get the weapons to work hopefully ------------------ Visit FS:SDOE Online IP: Logged |

Hemi,Click below and download my startup.ppf. This should have most if not all ppf and sm references for SDOE. http://members.nbci.com/harman_5/startup.zip Once downloaded, unzip it anywhere. Open the unzipped folder, and copy the "Startup.ppf" file inside it. Enter your SDOE media directory, by default, the address in Windows Explorer is: "C:\Program Files\Fighter Squadron\Media\" Now, rename your existing "startup.ppf" file inside your SDOE media folder to "startup_backup.ppf" or similar. Hit paste. You will have now pasted the downloaded startup.ppf inside your media folder. Your original startup.ppf file will be safe because you renamed it. Now try the weapons again. Remember, to arm and fire the Panzerfaust and Mortar, press 4 to select them, then A to arm. Then press Enter to fire. 7 and 8 will select ripple and single fire respectively. I've tried this on my other computer which only has a fresh install of SDOE and the Ground Pack demo, and the weapons work fine. Hopefully this will work for you too. If not, tell me. ------------------ Visit FS:SDOE Online [This message has been edited by Harman_5 (edited 05-18-2001).] IP: Logged |
