Hey guys--

A few of us mission makers have noticed a problem with one of the tiles at Woolwich Air Base-- on the north side of the field (or is it south)...there is an area where there are three separate dirt turn-arounds (can't think of the word to describe them-- are they dugouts? Hardpoints?) Anyways-- when we try to park a plane on any of these three spots-- with the planes at 0 altitude and speed-- when the game starts, the planes start above the ground and fall down and get wrecked. Placed anywhere else on the field- they set up fine-- and are parked right where you place them- but no matter how I play around with it-- planes on that tile always start above ground....now I don't mean they are flying-- there are no running engines-- I just mean the game places them there--but parked at about 100 feet above ground. Is there a way this can be fixed?

are you placing these through the editor, or are you text-editing to get the planes there?

If it is th efirst, then it could be that the plane start co-ords for that runway and position are not correct on the 'z' axis. Otherwise, I am not sure!

I've basically been doing it the same way I've always done it-- place the plane in the regular editor-- get into it and taxi to where I want to place it- take a SS...exit out- open in a text editor and type in the coordinates-- everywhere else on every terrain it works-- in fact it works if you place it on the other hardstands (Thanks semm ) across from these-- but this particular tile has something screwy going on-- it would be so much easier to place stuff if we just had a 3D editor like CFS2- where you can place something anywhere.

Jeeves,i think i know the problem, but iīm busy with my job and school this week. Please mail me next week,so i didīnt forget it
I guess itīs the airfield plug that didnīt fit exactly into the terrain. You didnīt see it,but it "works" in the background.

Jeeves, cou can also make a little test.Make the airfield invisble and put the plane at the coords where you want it before.Did the plane parked correct now?
I guess they will be placed correct.

OK-- just tried it Visible or invisible, the Lanc starts out falling from the air-- granted it lands perfectly in the spot I placed it-- but the fall damages it

If this helps-- there does seem to be an incline at that place on the field where the hardpoints are.

Well..

things just got more interesting! I tried modifying the mission by putting the Spitfire ground units in the place of the actual planes...so there wouldn't be damage.

Well-- as mentioned before- regular planes fall from the sky and crash...and ground units....

Well-- they levitate if you really wantd to know It may not show up well in the pic-- but the leftmost of the 3 was higher up...and the rightmost was the lowest- but each one was just sitting in the air as if the air were the ground. Weird how things with inertia fall and those without (I am assuming the Spit ground object doesn't have inertia?) float.

Jeeves,
please post the coords and the altitude of the plane if the game starts.
It looks so similar to an airfield problem i have had a while ago with Smolensk...,so i hope i can fix it.

Here are the coordinates for all three hardpoints on that side:

-68604 74860

-69143 74852

-68063 74857

The altitudes are set for 0 but I am not sure what altitude they are at when the game starts--probably 50-60 feet up...but no more than 100
