Topic: Monday's Squad War Night!

We are looking at trying to make Monday Night a Patch Night for SDOE online. Some members of the current Squad War held on Saturday's would also be on as well. We would always be using the latest version of the Patch so that we could continue to uncover any bugs etc. And of course we hope it would also be alot of fun..I hope. We may have to work out the mismatches inherent with the Patches by going with no Aircraft Folder, but I'll let those that no more about that weigh in. Here's a sample of what I hope we will see in the Monday Night Wars soon...

We encourage anyone who would like to fly to be online tonight. Be patient as we are working with the Patch and issues may have to be worked out, but here's what everyone should have.PP6.0

Hi PR,Just a suggestion, but you might want to set up some time with a select group of testers to test pp6.1 beta4. It sounds like it will be offical pretty soon and it would be good to know ahead of time if there are any problems between it and the latest patch version. ------------------

Psi, I'm in the same boat but apparently there's some kind of toggle called AMD K6 CPU or something like that you can switch and it makes you run at full speed, whether you're on an AMD processor or not. I don't know where it is, haven't found it yet myself. It's there though, apparently.Werner ------------------

Do you have SDOE Control? It was an addon utility created by Spyder. There you'll find the AMD K6 cpu enable. I have mine enabled but still have a half speed machine. Hey maybe some of the other loosers and you and I could get together for an intense half speed game  P IP: Logged |

Many thanks to those that made it last night. Razer, Werner, Shark, Psi. It was fun and for the most part trouble free. I wish we had a few more guys to test a few larger missions, but for the missions we flew things worked well. Some participants experienced some graphic anomolies, but not much bad was to be found. I think Razer saw some things that were annoying, i.e. fast props on some planes. Easy fixes I would think. It's really nice to be able to fly at different times of day. We never did fly a full night mission, maybe next week. I hope that more of you infrequent fliers take the time to enjoy flying online. Instead of bitching that no one ever flies online, saddle up and be there when you know that someone will. Plus you can enjoy all the cool innovations the Patch progress is bringing to this game! Allow me to clarify, I was on only briefly with Shark in a ripping 1/2 speed takeoff and an easy kill for Shark. Though disappointed at the lack of my systems resources and the inability to play online at full speed I think the patch is the greatest thing to happen to SDOE since first release of the game. This is something that more people need to get involved in, online play with the patch. This thing has a lot of potential and needs to be taken advantage of. Just curious...this is a stupid question, but...on the half speed problem...did you change the speed through SDOE Control, or in the sdemons.ini file in the patch folder? I think Nat had it...the line is something like RealTime=1. Is that any where in your .ini file?If you did that already, excuse my stupidity, and slap me with a rolled - up newspaper.

What machine have you got PSI, my son has a K6-500 or something like that. I used it to test the network code for the patch and after using SDOEControl to set the INI setting, I had no problems running in full speed. I'll have a look and see what the criteria is. I wonder if the 1/2 speed stuff was put in because the standard modem speed during development of SDOE was 28K? By the time it was released though, anyone wanting to have fun with on-line gaming had already upgraded to a 56K. In addition, the K6-2 was a noticeable improvement over the K5 and K6 in the 3D realm.IP: Logged |

Ya guys I checked the ini and it is enabled (Realtime=1) Bryan, it's a PII 400Mhz 200w with a Voodoo Banshee. Even at that you would think that if I turn my textures down all the way (which I did) I could fly a pastel full speed game. Neal I just received an E from Jeeves stating what you said, so don't think it's stupid input, thanks But this pee on the carpet'll get ya the paper Thanks guys for your input. Hey guys,
I found something, there is not only a "RealTime=1" but also a "NetRealTime=1) The NetRealTime in my ini was =0 so I change that to =1. Cross yer fingers crossed. Thanks guys because I wouldn't have thought of looking for two inputs. You got my curiosity up now. P Well I just went to the game and I still get the "Your system is to slow to host" thing, this may be true. But with the changes to the ini it may allow me to PLAY a game at full speed now (sickining optimistic aren't I) I'll have to wait and see. P out... Well I went out and got a Optima 128mb SDRAM 133mhz and tried the patch offline. It does run a lot smoother, no herky jerky now. Wholy Cow!I have been looking in the Patch section for some organized flying......... looks like I should have looked here first! Going to try out my new p4 1700, w/Gforce GTS!!! The other night I was getting 60-80 fps online with 6 flyers plus two AI! Might even have a shrimp cocktail while I fly (inside joke for PSI's benifit) and a cold brewski (or was that supdski, another inside jab) or two!!!! My heart now sobs for more bandwidth  Scramble... Scramble... Scramble... my ass is in the cockpit and awaiting Monday night!!! ------------------

Archer you dog, when did you get a 1.7? Did ya get cut breakin in And you know better than to tease me about seafood. I been trying to satisfy the craving for sence about November by eating cheeseburgers, no help. You'll be happy to know that I have blimped to about 420 and I'm on the heart transplant list. I had a blast Monday and If I can get off of work in time i'll be at next monday nights little event. I would like to fly some Pacfic stuff one night since i'm doing a lot of work in it and I like to fly some of the stuff every now and them. We have enough to do some Zero vs P-38F and maybe get the Val in on it and some P-47s and P-51s. I'm hoping to release the new P-51B this weekend and it would be cool to fly it online some.------------------
