Hi Guys, ok this is the first open beta but it's only meant for testing, not a general beta release.

I need good beta testing mostly because I have a slow machine when it comes to SDOE (for now.. upgrading to Duron 900 @1100mhz next week ), and testing the 2 main areas I need is hard when I get low FR with any aircraft, and judging the FM for the same reason is very hard when game reaction speed is slow.

Info I would like is:

FM: The aircraft should be at the least "twitchy", prone to snap rolls and stalls if not treated gently, I would like to know how you find it, but she should be a stuggle to control until you're used to her, be nice and she should be friendly.

FR's (internal and external): I've reduced the poly count alot in the last few days but since my machine is slow it's hard to tell what real FR rate I'm looking at.

Notes: As always with me, no mission included, you must make one yourself, it saves me getting reports that the mission CTD's and all that crap.

Bombs: I think you should be able to use them, I have a Russian Weapons pack that has more and improved Russian bombs, but I think we already have the FAB100's so you should be ok, if not, accept the fact that they don't work for you yet

If you find any other major issues feel free to point them out, but generaly there's only cosmetic fixes need to be done now

Cockpit Sweetheart Photograph: I you have a pic of wife, girlfriend, kids whatever that you want to put there, then you need to change the MyPrincess.tif with your image, image size is 256x256 greyscale (only 68kb then) Just thought it would be nice to "personalise" the cockpit a little

There's a texture in the pit that causes blocky clouds, I'm trying to track it down now.

Cheers guys, please give me some feedback soonest so I can see if anything needs doing in these 2 arewas atleast, remember that in other areas there's still work to do, so please don't jam up the thread with things like "this or that part isn't mapped right" or that sort of thing

I tried her out down low over Stalingrad and she flew steady as a rock with no vices. Up at altitude was where she got slippery, just like she is supposed to!

I think the FR are really good. Over Rhineland I'm getting +25 and over Bavaria I get +40...go figure

I dont get the blocky clouds at all! The Stalingrad mission has about 12 ground units and about 10 planes.

If you choose bombs you'll get no guns

Well Nat, The model is great! The cockpit needs alittle work, but hey... its a beta... The only probs I noticed was that when flying, the spinning prop really interferes with gunnery, its too bright. The other is that the guns don't converge on the gunsight, only the mg's. But other than that its great, and I love adding my own art.

Thanks guys, good early reports Diego, could you try those same missions and replace the Mig with another aircraft like a 109 or something, just to get an FR comparission, although what you've said there sounds cool to me.

Aladar, yes I agree with the prop, you hardly notice it in normal missions, but as soon as the colors are changed the light prop becomes very prominent, so you've made it final, it'll have to be made more transparent.

The cockpit.. well.. er... the only part I'm happy with is the proper gunsight I semi-built, other than that.. I just aint no good at them to be honest, if anyone would like to volunteer to help me out with it I'd be very appreciative, if not I'll ofcourse do the best I can with it

Aladar.. can you check the guns, they seem lined up perfect to me, all guns and mg's meet almost exactly at the centre of the cross hairs, try sitting her on a runway and zoom ini while firing one then the other, but I'll check into it since I thought they were ok, I'll take a look.

Diego, the high FR's with Bavria must be down to a most excellent terrain model, my regards and congrats to the modeler LOL Stangely, I've not even flown her over a snowy terrain yet, to much time building and testing and not enough pleasuer flights I guess. If you like I'll check the loadout for you and send you a fixed one, but realy you should only lose the gunpods, I'll have to check that one for sure though.

As far as matchups go, she should give most german fighters a run for their money at altitudes of more than 15K, but below that she should realy be outperformed by them easily, her designe was for high altitude intercept, not medium or low level.

LOL, I woundered what you meant by the art just noticed it now LMAO.

Thanks guys, hopefully other reports will reflect your good findings and I wont have to worry about major FM/model changes and get on with touching her up

Promise.. I will finish this one in the very near future and have a full release version.

Oh-- I wanna test..I wanna test!!!

What program do you use to get the wife's pic in there-- if I have my wife's pic in the cockpit with me, maybe she won't be so jealous when I fly this game so much

Well Nat, I just checked the sight, and the bullets cross right in the middle, so I guess its right, must of been the way I was flying.

Hey I got it to work using Adobe...my wife will get a kick when she sees herself in the cocpkit LOL

Diego is right about the guns...sorry I didn't notice it, but I must admit all I have been doing is dogfighting in her-- I haven't even set up the bomb loadout until now LOL....but there are no guns under light bombing...although they are there in the loadout...maybe a typo under the loadout? I can't see anything wrong now but I am not sure

I need to increase the sensitivity on my stick, I can't get her to spin. This is a stick issue though.

She seems way overpowered in the climbing dept. I can hold it at a 20 degree angle and the speed stays over 200 mph. It even held it's speed at a respectable level at a 30 degree AOT.

Also the faster you go, the faster she rolls. I was getting roll rates of 3 seconds at 18000 feet and 400 mph with no rudder applied.

At lower speeds she was rolling at a rate of 4-5 seconds. Do you have any data on this?

Beautiful model though.

Lil'B, The textures don't show right on those 2 parts yet because I probably haven't changed the texture refs when I took them from other aircraft, I'll sort that out.

Da Jug, Can you check the climb rate more deeply for me? at low level I certainly can't sustain anything like that climb rate, infact it seems below 10,000ft she realy struggles to climb, at 5,000ft anything above 5 degree pitch will very quickly bleed speed. I'll do more extensive climb testing at different altitudes aswell, but I think this problem will probably occur at medium to high altitude and ir probably linked to the way the FM is layed out to give good high altitude performance while having very bad low level performance, and balancing those 2 aspects against climb rate I'm sure will prove difficult, so any and all suggestions welcome.

On Roll Rate, I don't have any real hard data on that, but thats a good reason to send her out like this now, if you feel that the rool rate is to high then I can reduce it, but on my machine it didn't seem any higher than say a 109, again though my machin is slow and judging this kind of thing is retty hard.

The only realy useful data I've found so far is from this site (Russain Air Museum) http://hep2.physics.arizona.edu/~savin/ram/mig-3.html

Anyway, I'll go run some tests.
