OK, guys, lot's of new people asking about what they need to download, where to get the files, and how to join an on-line game.

Everybody's being very helpful and typing out the answers. I have a better solution, or thought I did. I set up some tutorials to try and make it easier for everyone.

If you haven't seen the "Getting Started" section or the On-line tutorial at http://fscentral.50megs.com because you're an experienced pilot (and therefore, didn't need the info)- please go take a look at them. Then you'll see how it can make life easier for you.

The on line tutorial includes screenshots of EVERY important window if you aren't hosting a game. It walks a new player through the process step by step and warns them about some of the common mistakes.

The getting started section includes links to ALL of the necessary upgrades, including a site where they are broken into pieces for people with 56K modems. It also explains what they are and has a link to an explanation about on-line compatibility.

I'm not mad or upset I just think it would be easier (and save lots of time) for you guys to answer the questions by telling them to go there first. That way, all you need to do is type in one link.

Then you'll have time to answer the questions they have after reading the tutorials there.

Remember, thats BR-549, oops wrong number
Just send them to Fighter Squadron Central at http://fscentral.50megs.com

I make no money off this site so that's not my reason for suggesting this.

I've been getting more than the usual number of inquiries by email lately DJH, and I've been referring them to your site.

I have a suggestion for you if don't mind - several of my inquiries haven't been so much "how do I get started", but "WHY should I get started?". In other words people who aren't sold on a two year old sim, free addons and 5 bucks for the cd or not. Maybe a page of "twenty (or other round number) reasons you should get into SDOE" which summarizes the sim's bright points (WWI, patch, theatres, nations, # and quality of planes, etc) in a format suited to the sound-byte generation.

Just a thought.

If I may suggest something; BTW, your site is what I tried to do a couple of times myself, but I am abysmal at any web site work.....anyway,.....

Could the site be linked from the FSIC title page, and the link at the top of the forum page ( included with the info it pops up )? I can't always remember the URL when online, so I'd just send them here to search...some don't have the time or patience for that. Anyhow, is there some way it could be linked to the General Forum...then I could just have them go to FSIC messageboard and look at the top of the page?

Something like that anyway - like I say, this stuff is beyond me.

Great idea DJH, will try to keep this in mine. I will talk to Casualty and see if he would like to link it from the 26-AC site...

DJH,

You've got a great site but what you need are some images for us to put on our websites for linking. I took the liberty of making some up for you. You don't have to use them if you don't want. You won't hurt my feelings

Hurt your feelings? if you hadn't offered them for free I'd be considering a late night break in

Good grief those are nice. Maybe one day I'll have time to go back and redo the graphics on the site to look as nice as your images!

Actually, I really would like to have the site turn into a community site- if you see anything you think needs sprucing up, let me know. I can always give you or whoever wants to help the password for the site.
