I know what you guys are going to say but what you're about to read is the honest truth. I'm on the Jeeves team to rewrite the basic trainer missions for the original 10 of SDOE. I'm working on a particular mission that is difficult and after about 10 tries I finally beat the AI. My missions are not easy and when they are realeased I really think you guys are going to get a kick out of them, as well as all the other missions that the Jeeves team is working on. Any how, I completed this particular mission and opened it up to do the last of the detail. I opened the "Environment" and I couldn't believe what I saw, keep in mind this is in the standard SDOE not the patch. Well when I opened the environment it was the color changer from the patch! It had some how over written the standard one in SDOE. It freaked me out when I saw that because all the missions that I worked on in the patch I had to delete. Even opening them in the patch corrupted them and were no good at that point. I worked real hard on this mission and knew I had lost it. I hit "no" in save mission and I didn't get the "Illegal Error" flag. I made a copy of the mission and placed it on my DT and reopened it in the standard SDOE ME and the new enviroment thing was still there so I thought, why not, after all I didn't get the error message. Well to sum it all up I flew the mission with a purple sky! The SOB works now and honestly I didn't do a thing with it, it did it all it's self. I guess sometimes it works to wish aye PR. I'm very happy and flew the mission over and over with a 96,96,153 setting with clouds enabled and it was like I was really there (WOW) This is fantastic! Sorry I got into this post to long but I'm really excited about this... Oh one more thing, my FR's are up to almost the same as the standard Thanks guys for listening.P IP: Logged |

One thing to note on: When you have more than one version of SDOE installed, and want to make missions for either versions, you have to open which ever mission editor for the corrosponding install of SDOE. Otherwise you run into problems. Glad you got yours to work tho! IP: Logged |

I had a wierd thing happen to my sdoe about a week ago too. I only have one install of it currently (I'll soon be upping that to three) but I had been having a lot of problems since installing several betas of aircraft. Games would load really, really slowly, explosions would run at a frame every fifteen seconds, six a/c and sounds would cut out as well as some tifs (like tracers), then one day I was playing and the game just siezed up - it didn't crash outright, just siezed up and ground to a halt, then ctd-ed. I thought "oh great" and then turned the game on again and poof - games loaded fast like normal, FRs were silky smooth again, etc. I'm not sure what happened but I noticed a couple changes, like I think the siezure somehow kicked out my loader screen (GT's lanc lovers one with left over wwi icons) and it may even have dumped a bunch of my skins. Wierdness. Werner ------------------ Visit Abbeville Field Today! IP: Logged |

So in other words Argon if I'm getting what you're saying. If I write a mission in the patch then I need to create a "mission" folder there? But now that I can change the sky settings that environment thing just appeared in the original SDOE. So even if I wanted to write a mission in the old SDOE it would still be influenced by the patch. hmmm may have to send one version of each to Jeeves to check them out to see if I really got a messed up ME in the old V of SDOE. Werner, I know what you mean, this is really strange. I had a full text breifing in this mission and it vanished with this change up. But I still am really jacked about having this ability to change the sky. And also I like the fact that with the patch the AI now seem to be smarter that when I installed the patch, also harder too kill...P IP: Logged |

Psi, the WwW Patch comes with its own MissionEditor.exe file. (I hope you didnt overwrite the origonal SDOE MissionEditor.exe file...) If you want to create missions that work specificly with the WwW Patch, then you must run the WwW Patch MissionEditor.exe file first and then load up or create your missions. Same with any install of SDOE... You have to run the specific MissionEditor.exe file first on whatever version of SDOE you want to make missions for.Another example: I have 3 installs of SDOE... I just got finished making a few missions on my WW2/Beta install of SDOE. Now I want to go make missions for my WWI install of SDOE. I would have to go to where I installed WWI SDOE, and run its MissionEditor.exe file, then I could start making missions for WWI. Hope that helps. IP: Logged |

Maybe I am the exception Argon-- but I have been making missions in either editor and using them in all versions of the game with no problems.....and Psi-- I have had that happen too-- but it did go back to the regular settings- hope this doesn't happen to you though ------------------ Brought to you by the campaign for a better Dauntless! Jeeves, are you just going between the WwW Patch and 1.5 installations? If so then you wont have too much trouble (If any) but if youre going between two completely different installations then you will run into problems. Usually going between the WwW Patch and 1.5 in the same installation wont screw anything up, but Ive seen it happen on rare occasions. Better safe than sorry I always say. IP: Logged |

Argon, Mine works just the way that Jeeves explained it. I won't say that all has run smooth with any version of the ME from any install but for time time being everything seems to work ok. And yes oh great one lets hope that it does not revert back to it's old habits P IP: Logged |
