Think it would be possible to setup a button for the switching distance so all you have to do is hit the button and it shows you the plane in level 2 detail?IP: Logged |

Razer, yes that is possible and probable but LODs switch out and different distances. Implementing proper LOD switching in the render is the way to go I think...Now everything's in the right place! Elric [This message has been edited by Elric (edited 04-22-2001).] IP: Logged |

What Razer mentioned about the switchin...how about having it controlled by a slider? That would be really useful. And if you could link that to a polygon counter, you could check the poly count as you pull back / zoom in. You could also check for smoothness of switching parts. Another thing...Bryan mentioned it in OPS2000 a while back. Is it possible to have a tool that aligns parts! If you select a set of verts on part 'A' and a set of matching verts on part 'B' use the positioning tool to move part 'B' to align perfectly with part 'A'. I would pay money for a tool that does this! OL tools in AC3D was almost able to do this, but it screwed up the centres. All parts were centred on the model origin, not the part origin, so the dof's got mangled, smoke effects always appear in the wrong place, FM's go wrong, etc. etc. etc. p.s. I HATE lining up parts in OPS. It is time consuming to get right, and sometimes it just doesn't seem to want to ! I spent hours trying to line up a new nose for the mossie re-build. I knew the polygons mathced, but tweaking with the move tool always left gaps.... IP: Logged |

Yeah, all that stuff is very desireable, I'm going through a steep learning curve here. Elric
