I'll add mine too

The Doppler is great!! I really like being able to change the sky color in the mission edito now though-- just choose your color and voila! Now I have to play with the colors a bit, and the JPEG degrades it even more...but:

Man...I just had the best offline experience of my SDOE career

I set up a night mission with Mossies intercepting Ju-88's with 190 escorts....and as I am hitting the 88's in the beautiful night sky, 190's are zooming past me in perfect Doppler!! It was amazing!!

BTW-- I set my sky to all blue instead of the layers and it looks much cooler

We need those runway lights and stars now, Rend

Bryan,
Thanks for all your hard work and it's great to finally have this for SDOE. I have tested it to a limited degree, where are we posting bugs? Thanks again.

Jeeves, in your Sdemons.ini file what are your settings for

FogNearClip=5
FarClip=10
FogDistance=2000.0

Those are mine and my fog doesn't look nearly as cool as yours. Thanks.

Btw, here is a GREAT setting for a barely moonlit night.

Skycolor, click sky color, then more colors at the bottom and set it like this...

Red 0
Green 0
Blue 12

and for the fog black works fine.

Then for Infinite light .025
Ambiant light .050

Makes for really fun night flying! Now if those pesky trees and shrubs would automatically go dark we'd be set.

Oh boy do we NEED LIGHTS now! This is so much fun, Bryan I can't thank you enough. But just think how much lights would add to this gorgeous night flying? Maybe you could come up with some gizmo that would allow us to check a box and if the ambient and infinite light gets below a certain value, your plane will have navigation lights come on. And to make things easy, just have a preset thing that finds the wing tips, mid fuselage (or close to it), and top of the vertical stab and puts the appropriate colored lights in their places.

Left - Red
Right - Green
Vstab - White
Fuselage Anti-collision lights - flashing red

Of course with the option to have them all flash if you wanted. And then of course if we get these lights, then we could add search lights, dynamic lighting for when guns are fired, or a plane is on fire the plane gets dynamically lit. Oh I'm dreaming now, but hopefully you can keep working your magic Bryan

I just sat for over half an hour watching a 4v5 mission (La-5vSpitIX), I sat there in FlyBy mode and just couldn't take my eyes off it, it's quitly simply awsome to have doppler sound with flyby in dogfights, I wish we could make good demo movies of that.. it was amazing.

Guys, how are you getting the Patch Mission Ed to work??? everytime I save a mission with it it crashes (and the mission is corrupted)!! I want sky color aswell damit!

The Doppler is why this patch took so long! Too many hours wasted in that damn flyby view!

If you want a treat, copy the Meatwater engine sounds for the P51 to the lanc, turn the volume up and do a few flybys. That is sensational!

Nat,
if you only want to change the sky color open an excisting mission with notpad .Example:
msnEnvironment ( msnDate "8/15/1945" msnCloud "strPartlyCloudy" msnWindVelocity 0 msnWindDirection 315 msnClearColor 142 213 255 msnFogColor 142 213 255 )

and add the colors you want to use by typing!

But i have no idea why your ME didnīt work.

I have the same problem with the ME and call me stupid but how do ya open a mission with the note pad
Also Nat, Bore is trying to make a movie of SDOE, get ahold of him...

P

DOH!!! I figured it out For those that don't know how to open a mission in Word. Open word go to "file/open" then go to the directory that the mission's in and type the name of the mission in the "file name" box and click open. Ok thats all well and good but it still doesn't work for me and when I try "Save as" I get the "this program BS and this is the error;
MISSIONEDITOR caused an invalid page fault in
module MISSIONEDITOR.EXE at 015f:00422597.

No idea-- but whenever I had the patch editor up, I would not be able to save either....it got to the point that the only way I could save a mission was if I started a fresh one through the unpatched ME...

I started a new mission in the new ME and it worked fine. But certain planes crash the program. And like the JU-88, when I save a mission with that in it, it won't show up in the game. But it's still really cool, the progress that has been made lately.

Psi,

The system requirements for the patch should be the same as the original SDOE. If there are issues, it is either a bug we need to fix, or an aircraft/mission issue. I think there are some known frame rate issues with the patch in certain situations that we are looking into. In theory, the frame rates should be better with the new patch.

There are mismatch / CTD issues for on-line right now that are being fixed... as well as the doppler sounds effecting other system sounds like boggie calls and chat-beeps, etc.

Thanks Sv, Jeeves,

Have you tried your 400 online yet Jeeves, I think you might be disappointed. I can not join at "Real Time" I can only join at 1/2 speed. I would be interested to see if others have had this problem with a less than state of the art system. I can't tell how long I've waited for the Doppler and I'm that I can't get this to work on my system. Maybe others could tell me if their having this problem.

Well that more than answers my question Jeeves. I'm running the original setup @ 64 megs and to this point I've never really seen a message that says my system is to slow. Maybe it's just a bug that causes too much of a drain on the resources (trying to think positive) Thx...

Yeah...

I am sure that it could be a bug Can't imagine my machine not able to handle it-- it has done miracles to date...about the only problems I have run into is B-17II...but we all know the real reason for that.
