Hawk,It looks great. I'm curious if you plan to add the top turret (or was it part of the version you're building?). IP: Logged |

The model I made was the P-61B which did have the terrut but it was planned not operated by the gunner but locked forward and used by the pilot. Which was done in a lot of field MODs. I'm not sure how Hawk will set it up but it's how I first planned to do the plane in stormbirds. Hawk, that looks outstanding!

Nat, thank you. I do like this bird. I wanted to make a bad ass toy and this one fills the bill. The firepower is amazing, four cannons on the bottom, four guns on top. Coming in on a flock of FW's and opening all weapons up and seeing your tracers come close over your head from your top turret, the cannon rounds from the bottom and the FW's exploding in a guick volly is a real sight.Spin I am hoping to get a bomber sm to open up in OPS and steal a gunner station. I want to use the remotely operated top turret. It will be a challenge as the veiw will have to be from the gun and another from the gunners cockpit. Not sure how to do that yet but it would be cool. Razer thanks for your support and the great model that started this project off with a bang. IP: Logged |

SchaF it was used in Europe and the Pacific. Most versions were night fighters and were operational toward the end of WWII.Thanks Pete, this is a big project and a great learning experience for me. Again, any help would be welcome. My "to do" list is very long so don't be shy. To do: All outside viewing distance lods. All damge lods. Cockpits Rear glass framing Guns Correct landing gear Gun and naviagator, radio op stations FM Correct flaps (plane had several versions) A couple of other things I am sure :-)

You might be able to yank the bottom turret off of Gustavo's Herc. modified Lanc. . It has a remote view like the B-17g chin turret.Maybe you could release the version without the turret first, and release another version later. Just an idea.....no hurry.... really......(tap, tap, tap,)...none at all..... take your time...... we'll just wait over here........quietly ......waiting .......waiting for the sun to go down..........uummmm hmmmm IP: Logged |

Cool! The 61 was a purposely built as a night fighter. Crew of three, armed with 4x20mm guns under the fuselage and a 4x50 cal. machine guns in a remotely operated turret that sat on top and sort of behind the wings. It looked like the same turret you see on B-29's. The gunner's position was facing backwards and he operated the turret. They, um, carried bombs too. Externally. Two 500 lbers I think it was. Or was it four. You could drop them one at a time if you wanted to. He said hintingly. Not that I'm trying to be pushy or anything. Or have a speck of talent to help.IP: Logged |

Sunray, I have the turret modeled and the four turret 50 cal installed. It works great and the neat thing is I designed it to work with the pilot station or the turret station so you can fire all guns from the pilot or go to the turret and move it around and fire the 50's from there. The bomb load is also implemnted. If you notice in the picture above I have bombs racked. The gunner sits up high behind the pilot and faces forward. He has a swing around remote gun site and that view is modeled. IP: Logged |

The plane now is a frame rate hog. Razer's original model was made for Stormbirds and has rounder fuse and engine booms. I am getting 65 fps with one in the air over the ocean. 12 to 20 with 6 on the ground running. I am using a P3-800 with a Gforce card. My plan is to build the secound visual distance lod so that it will replace number 1 lod eventually. IP: Logged |

1:48. Being my first model and all I didn't do a very good job, so it eventually got tossed. I don't recall the brand. Werner ------------------ Visit Abbeville Field Today! IP: Logged |

Probably Monogram. 1:48, I believe it is still available from them. Local Hobby shop or craft store could order it. Very good model.
