Here it is, P-26a PeaShooter! Fly the first all metal fighter, complete from the factory with 600 hp Wasp radial engine, split flaps, two 30 cal machine guns, open air top, and real Corinthian leather headrest.

Stop by my Classic Air Racing web site and try her out. This is a beta, no refunds if found defective.

If you already have model alpha you will find this version much safer as the tail has been removed from the earth.

I just posted a newer zip (p26zip7). It fixes some graphic problems and gives it more horsepower so if you can get off the ground it will climb now.

There are a bunch of cool color schemes for this plane and if you need any let me know I have a dozen.

I am planning on doing the rather drab Philippine skin. This skin would be important because it was on the only P-26 to shoot down a Zero. Jeeves has done the Phillippine mission and I hope to have the correct skin soon.

Looking even better than when I last saw it!

Really glad to hear the problems are sorted! Wish I'd had more time to help with it, but that is life!

Great Job!

Looks great Hawk!

I take it that gun extending out of the cockpit is the only armament? A question for you... was this plane initially designed and a racer and was converted to military duties, or was it a military plane design that miscarried, and was discovered to be a good racer?

Do you have too make a mission with it?

For some reason I Can't get it to show up in the game.

I have the same problem with the JU-52 (Tri-motor.

Gunner good to hear from you buddy! If you unzipped to your main Fighter Squadron folder all the bits should go into their correct place. You can also unzip to a new folder and distribute the bits yourself.

Anyone else having troubles please let me know so I can fix them and change the zip.

Werner, this plane was designed as a fighter and never raced that I know of. They came to Cleveland during the race to put on flying demos but knew they were outclassed and could never get close to the speed of the GeeBee's.

In 1932 Jimmy Doolittle flying a GeeBeeR1 racer hit top speeds of over 250mph winning the Thompson Trophy race that year. In 1934 the Army developes the P-26 Pea Shooter with a top speed of 235mph so you see the Army Air Force declined any invitation to race.

It wasn't untill the mid 40's that the military planes became as fast and faster and they were used for the unlimited racing from then on.

I'm sorry Hawk, I have a couple problems with both the GeeBee and the P-26:.

First, all missions reference a squadron I don't have (27th "persuit" squadron). My setup is NV2+PP6, nothing else.

Files with that name are missing in both zips:
throttle.sm

Please fix! I'd really love to fly these cool planes!

What squadrons would work? Let me know and I will update the zip.

The throttle had not been delt with yet.

Thanks for the input.

I don't know why it CTD's for you. Does it CTD for anyone else? I have been flying the heck out of it but every setup is different. I need to know this stuff so please let me know of any problems and, most important, any answers to any problems.

Snickers it could be a P-61 Black Widow, could be but I will need some big time help on this one.

Hi Hawk
This is a great aircraft and although I have only had a couple off quick sessions I have no ctd's . I have not managed an incident free landing yet and laughed when all the other AI aircraft nosed in when they cranked on full flap with the wrong power setting she's nose heavy and if your under 100 knts throttle closed she doesn't want to flare so its more of an arrival. The wasp radial engine would be the same as our Harvard or T6 as you would call them Hawk arond 600 hp or is it?
I will have to put her up against Mace's Latest creation.Great work Hawk,Thanks.
