There is a program being developed for Microsoft Flight Sim 2000 that allows you to paint, add lights, transparencies, true color, ect. all at real time. You paint, you see it going on the aircraft.

I have used the first program by this designer and it was beyond increadible. To paint and know exactly in real time where that stroke will go and what it will look like in 3d is amazing.

The problem, it only does certain files not Tifs. I have talked with the designer and he will put tiffs on the menue but needs some info. I am not sure if this will even work with tiff included but maybe you can help me here. What do we have to do or tell him so he can make this program work with Open Plane. He is very willing to try.

Here is his response:
"Yes, but I need the file format first. Do you have it?
Or some Delphi component able to read it?

Here is the url to his preview http://www.directsolutions.com.br

This would be great Hawk

I'm not sure what he means though.. format? Maybe Bryan will have better answers, but I have the feeling Bryan'll have more questions before answers since we work in Tif format, normal everyday Tif.. some with Alpha chanel, but other than that nothing special, we don't need any compression or anything, just nice plain old Tif

infact... it doesn't matter to much what format his prog writes the files in, they could always be converted to Tif later, lets hope this works out, looks very cool

Ahhhh... looks like it's loading the model in the same way OPS does, but with a paint extension to allow the real time coloring.. thats probably more what he means by file type, it would need to be able to load SM file format.. that could be difficult, lets hope Bryan has some ideas

well, maybe I didn't catcht the right problem, but if the problem is the conversion, the files could be saved as a common format (jpeg, png...)and then convert it w/ a graphic program, like photshop...
btw, I think I won't abandon my Paint Shop Pro 7 so easily

In the original program your paint program was used along side this program. What this program does it allow you to see the texture you are making being applied to the object in real time.

There is nothing like it. When I used it for MSFS98 painting planes became very easy.

If you had a program like this you would not have to make the map, open AC3D, open the part, make the rectangle, align the rectangle, set the texture, find out it was not perfect, do it again.

You would, instead, make your map, open this program, open paint program, get the object, move or redo texture as needed while seeing it move and adjust on the 3d model. It is perfect because you see it just like you would in OPS.

A plane that took me a day to paint in the old way in MSFS took an hour in this program.

As I said above lil B, what he would need to do would be to open SM file format with his program in the same way OPS does. This is very much something for Bryan to take a look at and maybe talk with the guy himself, the idea is excellent if it could be made to work with SM files. The problem isn't the image type, rather that actual aircraft model file format that the program must be able to open.

In any case it only supports files generated by Flight Shop or Aircraft factory so he would have to do some SM lod loading at the very least.

You can tell him to send me a mail if he gets that keen...

Hawk,
http://www.lischke-online.de/Graphics.htm

Is a Delphi native graphics library that handles .tif format.

He would also need some delphi classes to read the sm format. He may want to drop me an email. Watch this space.
