Well, I haven't done much work on the plane this week other then adding the 3D vertical stab and messing with the prop pitch stuff bryan added to the lastest beta. Now, here's what I need to know. I've added the new pitch control to the P-51B and it's really great to fly. Now the new pitch stuff requires 1.5.2.6 and will NOT run on normal SDOE (plane crashes before start). Should i remove the prop pitch stuff for now till we get a patch that bryan thinks is official? (well, unofficial official)

I also added the new pitch controls to the La7, but I haven't crashed once when using 1.5Maybe I've added the prop wrong, my understanding was the propManualPitch should be added to the propellar prop list, is this wrong and thats why I don't DT? IP: Logged |

I think for the time being Raz you should remove it for test purposes. Like you said till Bryan has the offical patch and all use it. I personally am not using it until all the bugs are squashed. It's up to you though, you may want to get it to people that are using the patch and those of us that don't. You could test it both ways P IP: Logged |

Well, the newest version COMPLETELY porks the Corsair's flight model (or the model is porked in the newest version, take your pick) so I'm not going to incorporate ANY features that take advantage of the patch until I can figure out what's changed in the flight model/joystick code/sim rate/whatever.Don't like working in the dark and then having to go back and re-do it all later, so I'll wait until we have something a bit more final.

Moving over planes into the new patch is the best way to get a good patch. If these new featurs are not tested, the patch will suffer.I strongly recommend that new planes work in the patch - or at least that you "branch" and create 2 versions of the aircraft... one for the patch and one for the current SDOE. The patch is going to be moving fast and it will be out sooner than you think. Right now the only things holding back the patch are 1) testing the on-line bug fixes and 2) testing/implementing new features in aircraft and 3) making user-created aircraft work in the patch. The patch will be coming out soon weather or not it has enhancements. If we spend time waiting for testing and feature implementation in aircraft, then the patch will just have less enhancements and fixes when it comes out. For anyone interested, the =FC= will be testing the latest patch tonight at 8:30pm EST Calif 12, Aces Den. And thank you everyone who is helping so much with the patch - without you we would be stuck! What are the feelings about starting a new pack for the new patch now? This would be where 1) planes are "fixed" to work in the new version of OpenPlane 2) planes use the latest OpenPane features and 3) Damage modeling is updated to work with the damage fixes (especially pilot damage). We do need to start thinking about this... ------------------ -Sv Wings with Wires IP: Logged |

Sv & Razer,I think there should be two versions of this aircraft. Put one out without the prop pitch add-on. This will work in both versions, so will not be left behind when the plane pack or the patch is released. Any aicraft using some of the new features of the patch should be released on the patch forum rather than here. This will allow 1. More thorough testing of the new features 2. Better troubleshooting of both the patch and the aircraft using the new features. OK guys I got the patch installed and to tell you the truth it was painless. It has improved my frame rate by about 10ps, love that part. Sv I would like to take part in the tests up-coming. If this is the wave of the future I like it. P Footnote; Remember NOT to install the patch into your FS directory. Create a folder and install it there. Read the "readme" and the rest is basic. I do however have a problem flting the P-51D in any mission, you may experience the same. [This message has been edited by Psi (edited 03-31-2001).] IP: Logged |

sorry guys, i was using an early attemped to the prop thing and i had it set up wrong. That's what was causing the CTD. I've checked the new version and it runs fine in old SDOE and great in the new version. so this thread is pretty much useless. the new stang will have this in it, but you just wont be able to enjoy it without the patch. ------------------ Tony "Razer" Martin FS Hangar IP: Logged |

Hey Razer did you received my flight report i sent you by ICQ?if not i join a copy here:hi razer! i tested the new P51b you sent me yesterday are u sure it was the pitch prop version?'cause i could used her without the patch(non actual anymore now that i read your last post here) i love the new cockpit even if it's not finnished (the weird black surfaces between the cockpit and the engine,i also quote that there is no pilot in her and i find her very nose heavy specially in landing with full trim back i can't make a three point landing? hope it will help a bit (keep me in touch about the pitch prop version and give me the way i have to use it! ;-) thxs for all... PSI, there are a few planes that don't work with the patch at this time. However the P-51D has been fixed. It looks like there were two verts that were trying to take up the same space on one of the elevators.Go to the download section and look for the P-51D beta 5.2 It is just the P-51D.sm so it is a short download. Razer, sounds great, looking forward to it. IP: Logged |

Hey Tony, what keyboard mapping have you used for the pich up and pitch down? I think since we're the ones working on aircraft with this added we should "standardise" the keys, so if you let me know which you're using I'll set mine to the same.IP: Logged |

Also, just a hint for manual pitch... the AI will stick with using the propMinPitch value. In your La-7 Nat the propMinPicth was set to -10, so it wasn't going anywhere fast!Potentially either the AI are going to have to learn a few new tricks, or I've got to add a way to set the default pitch. Probably a bit of both. IP: Logged |

Thanks Raider, got it and it's 100k,and it did work. We tested it last night. Nat Raz said the key strokes are "control arrow key up down. Just reveived pics of the "B" from Razer and she looks real good so far. He said he will be sending us testers a version soon as he feels that it's complete. He has made good progress since yesterday he says, hoping to give her a spin soon...P IP: Logged |

inpPropPitchUpDigital = Control UpArrow : 0 5 inpPropPitchDownDigital = Control DownArrow : 0 5 inpToggleAutoPitch = Alt A I haven't set it up for more then single engine planes right now but this works great since the arrows already do trim.

rgr that Tony, I'll set mine the same.Bryan, would it be possible to enable the Auto toggle to set the AI to use the normal control method? Then really there's shouldn't be a prop pitch proplem, I've had to drop my min pitch that low to get the ground handling into line, the La7 is simply to powerful and light for the AI to control on the ground and using a -10 means the AI doesn't try taxing at warp 9.8 lol IP: Logged |

Well we tested the "B" today and really guys the stuff that Raz has been saying about the prop is true. You have got something worth waiting for when he releases it. This prop looks freakin real!!! But do me a favor don't bombard Tony with lots of questions about it, I wanna stay on his test team Anyway looks like it won't be to long of a wait and I just wanted to let you guys in on this what looks to be just another great addition to this growing sim, may it rest in peace...
