I just happened across an old post in the course of searching for something else. One year ago today, the existance of TeamPBY was announced. So the first question asked is, its been one year, why isnt there a beta out?Several reasons but for the most part it all boils down to this: In creating the PBY we are not (and could not be) building just the plane. We are building ordinace for loadouts no other plane has (no, I won't say what so don't ask...). We are building special targets for some of the special ordinace we have to build. We are building a PBY tender. We are being innovative and detailed in the damage model (yes, it works with the beta patch  ) And, until very, very recently a great deal of time was spent on water landings. (More time will be spent, but at least it looks like it is now do-able.) While none of these things have the same overall impact that the waterlandings breakthrough will have, there have been several things that needed to be "invented" and others still waiting (such as a submarine that dives as you approach it.....though that will probably wait for beta 2). I could put out a Beta today. I would not be happy doing it, and you would not be happy with it (at least for long....) So grant us a some more time. It WILL be worth the wait.

Hey Nat, can I have your version [with snick's permission] so I can write the Catalina into the North Atlantic Campaign?A less that perfect model would be fine mission writing purposes I think...It looks I'm still gonna be alittle while on NAC, so I'm hoping the beta Cat will be ready around then & what better way to celebrate it's arrival than some campaign missions!
