The cartoon is funny, but that really happened to a P-47 pilot. The german plane shoot at the 47 till he ran out of ammo and the P-47 pilot just hunkered down behind the bulletproof plate and when the german pilot finally ran out of ammo, he pulled up along side the 47, wobbled his wings and flew off. The P-47 was a complete loss but it did get the pilot back to base before it fell apart.

Sounds like you're talking about Robert Johnson, Razer. Yeah, that story was too intense.

To elaborate a little bit, the german pilot pulled beside the p47 3 separate times, checking to see if johnson was still alive after each burst that lasted several seconds. Man, he was lucky that day.

I'm very familiar with this story. The other part of it was that the FW 190 was out of cannon rounds or Johnson says he probably wouldn't have made it.

I like the wise crack in the cartoon about the ricochet's too.

Funny thing too, without spoons loadouts, this tactic would work great for a P-47 on-line (until engine damage from PP6.1 is added). Don't try to get behind em, try to get in front instead

I have done this many times when "snicking". Only I dont wait for them to run out of ammo, I just do terrain avoidance until they don't (or I don't)

Hi Da Jug Head,

Remember(I think you do) that I did not modify the engine damage in the p47 specifically. I did modify the obhits for the other parts of the plane to make the engine damage happen more often(ie more realistically). Yes we will have to see what everyone thinks about the damageability of the p47 online with the changes I made for it in PP6.1
