The SUBJECT title says it all.

When SDOE first came out, minimum requirements were PII/266 with 16-bit 2 MB card.

Obviously, that probably won't cut it now with all the add-ons, etc.

So, what is it :-)?

My son has a 333 Mhz Celeron, 64MB of ram, and a 4mb Starfighter video card. He seems to have no problems. The limit is realted more to how much stuff you can throw in the air.

He gets 15-20 fps in the 8 vs 8 yak training mission

I have a 400mhz P2 Voodoo Banshee 16 and I've had no problems. Like Jug said the more stuff ya put in the more ya take out. I have a Pacific mission with 3 Zeros a F4u1, a P-38j and a P-38f and custom paint and sounds and sustain about 50fps low 35 high 70fps.

I have P2 400Mhz + ATI Rage Fury + 128 Mo RAM and I have Battle of Britain Missions with 15 to 20 fighters (Spits, hurricans, Me109e) flying and it's OK.
Limit is when using B17s, I can only have 4 or 5 of them in a mission, more and it's too slow to be fun.
But don't take an ATI Rage at all costs, have'had the worst problems with the lastest drivers and took me 1 month to fix and revert to original drivers for 2 years ago.

Cheers

Until I upgraded recently, I had a PII 266 with 96mb memory and a Voodoo3 16mb card. It could handle anything SDOE came with just fine. But many of the user made missions caused the frame rate to drop below 15 and at that point it starts to stutter and slow down. I never went online with it so I don't know how it would have performed there.

ok,don't laugh any of you...
I have a P200 MMX w/ a 3Dfx Voodoo...
I guess mine's the lowest config, btw I can run SDOE w/ a max rate of 24 FPS...
We're talking about real performances, not better ones
Btw, I'll enter the up to 40 FPS world soon w/ my incoming 1Ghz brand new processor... I wonder how many planes I'll be able to load in a mission!!! Maybe the same number of EAW!!!!
GEEEEEEEEEEEEZZZ!!!!

li'l slow but happy bastard

Well, I used to have a AMD 333mhz (I know..I know..) and a nice 'lil ATi Rage Pro 2x.

Good for a max FPS of about...hmm..leesse, 20 FPS with only ONE plane in a mission!

But that's gone now and my PIII 500 does the job quite well.

Me only have PII-350 and 64MB of the most important performance-booster thingie called RAM. Soon gonna upgrade to AMD 1GHz, 256MB of RAM, as you may have seen in my post in Off-topic. But my current rig is OK as long as I don't play any games less than a year old

Is it a contest? What we win? I have an AMD K6-2 450 Mhz, 128 MB of Ram and a 3DFX Voodoo 3 2000 16 MB(with 2 fans around...) and finally a joystick Saitek 550 combo (not the best I agree). I got sometimes more of 110 fps with a single plane and some other times 11 fpsh a few more planes.
