I thought some of you might find this interesting.
http://www3.sympatico.ca/maury/openplane/op_wishlist.html

It needs a real TOC, but I think it's pretty OK as-is. If you have any thoughts or additions, please drop me a note.

I've just read through it - and it's very very good stuff! Most of the things I've been considering to post here, you've already covered and with well thought out basic solutions too... I must confess I'm impressed

The only thing I remember right now that isn't yet covered in your list and to my knowledge isn't either in the game engine already is gyroscopic precession effects.
(Anyone that is interested in what this is can take a look at http://www.gyro-scope.co.uk ).
I do think I have been thinking on some other stuff to add too but I'll have to search through some CDs first to find my old notes...
Just wanted to say it's great work Maury! Hope it will become of use to some of the patch programmers!!!

user controlled bombs eh? i like that idea..

u know the germans tried radio controlled rockets...but with little success...it left the pilot too vulnerable to being shot down as he controlled the projectile

Yeah, you'll note that it kinda trails off at the end. I was hoping to flesh out the entire physics side of things a LOT more, but we're in the middle of a product release so I have basically zero time.

I'm on a plane to London on Tuesday, maybe I'll get some time to hack at it then.

Yeah, the US tried it too with the GB and AZON/RAZON series. The later did very well, dropped a number of bridges and such in Europe and SEA.

Yup, but nevertheless they did VERY well. The Germans were very proud of the radio system on it, which had something like 14 different channels. Before takeoff the bombadier would pick one at random, so it would be hard for the British to jam it.

At first these things were kicking the crap out of the British fleet in the Med. Several destroyers sunk, major damage to other ships, a couple of transports sunk too.

Well what the Brits did - ever clever - is send in the Commandos and steal one. Then they built a jammer with all 14 channels in it. The Germans freaked out and concluded the Brits had some sort of super-jammer, and re-designed all of their missiles on wire-guidance. These were just starting to work when they wound down the production as the war over the water was no longer an issue.
