have a site with lots of add-ons for the game. by that i mean, all of the planes available individually as well as ground units et all, cos some people don't want to have to download new versions of the planepack all the time for some updates. this way we can download what we choose. some were on this site would be handy, may be update fs flight line to be the ultimate download centre. simfiles is very good but it doesn't have everything and all its files are on one page. good idea/ bad idea ?IP: Logged |

Yes, that'd be nice but you run into having to find somebody that will host same. and then there's bandwidth stuff and all kinds of other money related things. Mind you, I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't happen. I find there's a lot of the guys have access to stuff the rest of us don't have. And ain't it great?IP: Logged |

Actually darthbob. That's close to the intent of the Fighter Squadron Central website. Although the files won't be hosted, you'll be able to go there and see a list of the files under each section, a description, and a link to hte page/site where the file is located. The files won't be hosted there for 3 reasons: 1. bandwidth considerations 2. disk space limits. 3. (The most important one to me)Other people do lot's of hard work on their sites, and I'm not going to provide a link to the file itself becauseit's not fair to them. To me, it'd be like hijacking their hard work. Instead, I hope this promotes visitors to the other SDOE sites, and causes people to look around while they're there. This, however is a HUGE project as it's also going to contain tutorials for newbies. Help is always appreciated, as the process will be a slow one otherwise. check it out- http://fscentral.50megs.com [This message has been edited by Da Jug head (edited 03-10-2001).] IP: Logged | |
