A user at simHQ asked people to post their 2 favorite flight sims. It's obvious no one from this forum dropped in yet as my reply was the first to mention Fighter Squadron.

Put a plug in for SDOE and make them wonder what all the fuss is about

Good job sailor,

I posted as well. Great job to all. Keep up the good work. So far you guys have saved me a bunch of money cause those new sims (bob/B17) just don't cut it. Seems like every day I learn a new key command, and I have the overlay and manual!

Thanks,
Riverrat out!

WOW! Great showing there guys!!! Compared with a year ago, SDOE has come a long way... I'm sure this warms the hearts of the patch team!

It is so fun to read the SDOE posts... there is not much more to add... it is all so well said... and so true.

I hope the new SDOE patch, along with the masterful user created objects for SDOE, will give this game a new life (not that life here isn't bliss all ready)

I put my two cents in.

Although i love sdoe and is the prop sim that i play about 70% of the time. I dont have blinders on and ignore any of the other fine ww2 sims out there. EAW with its add-ons, bob if u can get it to work, ww2 fighters for the scurrying deers, also gets some time when i feel like a change. Each grabs my interest for a little while. Thank god for 20gig hard drives

Ooh ya, if you combine all the great things on each of these sims youll come up with a certain russian sim. Oh please Oleg dont make me have to eat my words.

smoketrail,

I really think IL2 look GREAT!

But keep in mind, it is not just that the sim designers "can't get it right." Every decision in making a game is a trade-off, you just can't have it all... there is not enough CPU, memory, etc. to do everything. So each game needs it's focus...

That is why I love SDOE, not because it is the best sim, but it is the sim that focuses on what I love... flight and physics!

I love all sims too... each has its own style and accells in it's own way.

Sv,

Regarding the screens you posted on that thread: Which craft is that the cockpit for? Is that the SE-5? Man, that looks incredible!

Yes, SE5a, Nuum did that. I am working on the EIII cockpit now, but we only have very fuzzy photos, I will need to take artistic liberties

S...Gentlemen,
Wondered over here a couple of days ago after reviewing some of your posts at sim.com.
Been flying EAW [sp] for the past 2 years & lurking at the EAW sites for almost as long.
I'm pleasently surprised to find the same kind of loyalty for SDOE & the same kind of support that EAW recieves. Guess I've been living in a cave.
In any case I'd really be interested in knowing what it is about SDOE that inspires such loyalty.
Perhaps I should give it a check ride?

I gotta tell ya, I was flying a mission in a b17 really just to check out if the new Rhineland terrain installed O.K. It did, flawlessly. Was looking at the country side when I started losing control. I go to exterior mode and, really, my left wing is missing. The plane turns upside down and crashes into the ground. I looking at the screen amazed still at the detail during the crash and I see this "thing" go flying end-over-end. It's a body!! Made me laugh me butt off! I never saw that before. And believe me, I have crashed plenty.

Yep, this sim has it all.

Scratch, you gotta give SDOE A try!

Its a great game, that only keeps getting better and better. And in reality, I think the only limit to this game, is the imagination of this community.

I have been trying to get my squadron friends to fly SDOE for a long time. As a squadron that started up for EAW by an EAW beta tester, its been tough, but I think finally they are just about open to the venture.

Yes, Jeeves, I think Wayno is convincable

I had a real fun night last night online, I even had my brother out, and he is REAL shy about flying online!

Scratch,

EAW is a good game, and so is SDOE. Each one provides a different approach to the same topic. That's why both have such loyal followers. The experience from each is different and having both makes playing sims of the WWII era that much more fun.

Since you live in the US, you can order it from www.unbeatabledeals.com for $5. The manual is on the CD, so look for it there.
