Iinstallation was a snap. Extremely easy and no problems. The Rhineland terrain looks magnitudes better with these textures.

Personally, I'll never go back to the original texture.

I give it 5 out of 5 stars

1) InraView is the crappiest piece of software I've seen in a long time. Why can't Windows authors figure out how to make a &*%&^% UI?

It's not "trouble", it's just that I hate (with a pashion) sucky UI's. I hate the very idea that someone will release crappy software simply because they can't be bothered to use a better installer. That's why I hate Linux.

This is is _their_ problem, not yours. It's just a crappy installer.

Is there any effect of changing this? I seem to have LZW, and I notice that the terrain seems less sharp - less sharp that your screen snaps above in fact. Also I get a bad "patching" effect where the towns are much higher resolution and a different colour (much brighter).

Hmmm, maybe it's only finding some and not all of the images?

Love the new terrain. Installed flawlessly. I converted using the ACDsee program because I paid for it, I might as well us it. Everything worked perfectly. The jpeg kept the download smaller which is much appreciated.

Maury, the terrain is provided FREE, irfanview is provided FREE.

Do you realize how many tiles there are in the terrain and how LONG it takes to get the effect just right (if quality is a major concern, which, from all of Rendsberger's contributions is something he cares about)? Yet, you spent most of your time complaining about the install process.

If you hate irfanview that much, go BUY a piece of software you like for batch conversion.

As for the interface for irfanview, I thought it was pretty self-explanatory.

If you think the terrain needs an installer, why not offer to HELP.

"Never look a gift horse in the mouth" advice I've always found true. You might get bit.

I saw a lot of griping and no real solutions being offerred. Did you provide an alternative fo irfanview- no. Did you offer to help with an installer, or recommend one-no. The jpg format DRASTICALLY reduces file size, much more than any archiving utility (zip, tar, arj, etc). This is a big help for people with 56k modems. Makes me really defensive for Rendsberger and all his work.

At least you did end with a compliment.
