Doh!! Whoever it was that made the really cool gunsight and sent it to me, that's whose gunsight is in the new model. You guys knew what I meant...too bad I didn't P.S. it uses the same airfoils as the other Corsairs (F4U1Dfoil) since planepack 5.3. If in doubt, you can download the original F4U-1D from http://sites.netscape.net/jeditaub/Downloads/F4U1D430.ZIP which contains all the common files for the Corsair series...

It would of ben ALOT simpler if you included the airfoil. The latest Corsairs before this one used the P51foil...IP: Logged |

Hey Jedi, I dont seem to have the silver.tif or the lights.tif files. Even in the zip you posed above. Could you send me these? Thanks! IP: Logged |

Is it just me but can the Zero now really dance around you with ease? I know not to try turning but going vertical is almost equal. And in a straight run it seems very slow. Not half fast enough to be able to extend, and climbing is terrible too.Or else maybe the Zero is way off? Snake IP: Logged |

Argon--Hmmm. The PlanePack 5.3 Corsairs ALL use the F4U1D airfoil. I haven't "deconstructed" the PP6.0 planes yet, so I'm not sure about those, but I would hope the most current Corsairs were included... Do your other Corsairs have an engine texture that looks like cylinders? If not, you don't have the current versions. You're right about the .tifs. I forgot to put about 3 of em in (the new texture for the crankcase housing, the wire texture, and the warning lights). I'll send 'em, and include em in the next update. Snake-- Hehe welcome to the "real" Corsair. The -1A was not as powerful as the later versions. The Zero should be able to climb just as well as the Corsair, and in level flight, the early Hog only has a slight speed advantage over the Zero at LOW altitudes. It's a "boom and zoom" plane. With an altitude advantage, it can dominate the Zero by climbing above it and diving down. In fact, the Corsair as modeled (even the new one) may still turn a bit too well at high speed. I haven't quite mastered how to "tune" the turning ability. I've got it "wallowing" at low speeds tho, which is progress over the earlier version, which wouldn't ever slow down below about 200 in a turn. This one will slow all the way to stall if the pilot insists on turnfighting. When I get the other Corsairs "updated," you'll probably see them outclass the Zero a bit more. ------------------ --jedi-- IP: Logged |

Jedi, DOH! on my part... You are correct! Hmm... which versions of the F4Us am I using then? They dont have the engine clylinder texture. Just blackness... Whats the difference between these F4Us besides the texture?IP: Logged |

Argon--Sounds like you've got the "contest pack" versions. The current version has the engine texture, a working control stick, and is a bit easier to take off and land. The contest pack did indeed use the P-51 airfoils. 5.3 uses a dedicated Corsair foil. Von-- Sounds like your keyboard.inp file does not have the command for the tailhook. Look for a line that says "cmdHookToggle = O" If you don't have the most current keyboard.inp, there are several features of the new Corsair that won't work. In fact, the tailhook is the key to Mace's carrier landing system. If it doesn't come down, the plane won't stop on the deck. There used to be a link around here somewhere to the current "standard" keyboard file, but I don't remember where it is. I can send you mine if necessary.

I don't know if you said anything about this allready sorry to hash over things I should have read before but here it goes. In pic #1 there is a missing guage in the lower left corner, I know its beta. Image #2 I'm seeing a phantom prop nose. Image #3 This is the internal veiw of my wingman after a crash from the cockpit (F1) view. Image #4&5 Wen you set the tail hook down when damaged, it seems to remember the ghost of gear and maybe a wing too. I didn't really look into this more. That all I have, sorry again if I wasted anyones time with old news. P.S. I don't have the Ki-100 aircraft, so that training mission will not work, were do you get it at? Thanks, Von.IP: Logged |

That's not a missing gage is it?, I saw a real pic of a Corsair cockpit and it almost looked like a speaker grill was in that spot. Anyone know what it is? You see the same thing in cockpit pics of other allied aircraft. ------------------ "Where'd he GO!?!?" thunk-thunk-thunk-zing-OUCH That answered my question IP: Logged |

Hi Jedi,The only other thing I have noticed is when I land hard, sometimes a third rolling wheel appears by the left landing gear wheel and just roles ahead further. The left landing gear is not damaged and the left wheel is still intact and the plane functions fine from that point on as well. Great damage effects on this Jedi. It is alot of fun to fly these missions. ------------------ Condor out IP: Logged |

Hehe you guys are good detectives OK, from the top... The "missing guage" is...er...a missing guage! That's a hole in the panel I used for the Corsair. When I get a chance to do a better cockpit I'll put something in there. The "phantom prop" is where Razer remapped a new texture for me...and I forgot to include the texture in the download! You also probably aren't seeing the "overheat warning light" because I forgot THAT texture too! D'oh! I'll put it in the next (last?) beta or the planepack version. The "engine view" is what you'll see if you take control of a plane where the pilot has bailed out. I think you'll see this on other planes too... The "phantom tailhook" is one I never saw before It must be the extra parts of the tailhook system, which slow down the plane. I'll have to make sure they detach with the wing. Good catch! The Ki-100 beta lives here... http://www.fshangar.com/files/Ki-100_beta1.zip And the "phantom wheel" is part of the damaged gear. So far the only way I have been able to make that wheel a "real" object is to leave it extended and hidden. When I have it extend mechanically, for some reason it loses it's properties and goes through the ground. When I just obHide and obUnhide it, it will hit the ground and fold up and break off, which is the effect I wanted. I haven't quite got the strength and spring properties refined on it yet, so occasionally the damaged gear will hit something and break off, becoming visible. So for now, just land softer Thanks for the test results! Nobody getting CTDs? I hope?
