Ju88A4 Damage Model 6.2 is released.

New additions in this release are divebrakes and wing stressing.

Get it from the link below: http://members.nbci.com/harman_5/Ju88_DM_v6.2.zip

This version I believe is to be added to the upcoming Planepack also.

I installed it but i couldn't see divebrakes, checked it w/ OPS and noticed that u forgot to put in the zip the divebrakes tiff! I changed it w/ another and it's good, but maybe the brakes were more in the middle of the wing... and ho wcomes the plane noses down when I open them? the divebrakes had holes to prevent this...
great job tho!

Oh no not again!! I knew I forgot something! Thanks for telling me. I've added the missing textures to the zip and the download link below is now updated with all the textures needed.

And as for the divebrakes themselves, I looked at the screenshots from IL-2 and also a real-life picture Rendsburger sent me to position them. I'm not exactly sure why the plane noses down, probably the divebrake airfoils need adjusting, it's not so bad though.

Bad? Who said "bad"? It's MARVELLOUS!!! The only thing I don't like veeery muck is the damaged skin stuff, first of all cuz it takes more time to edit new ones, then they don't look that realistic, if u check out the mustang w/ bullet holes they seem "real", maybe because they look kinda 3dimensional, who knows... btw an improvement of that effect w/ different bullet holes would give great realism instead of a texture area that changes all of a sudden (that could be good for oil leaks tho...)... u think these bullet holes effect would affet teh FPS?
Btw don't forget I consider yours the best upgrade around! Are u thinking of doin this on other planes as well?

Wow thanks!

Yes, I've seen the P51 damage effects. This is acheived by unhiding tiny 3d bits with bullet hole textures when damage is taken. This effect is good, however the reason I chose to make my damage texture based, is because more severe damage effects can be modelled without any drop in the FPS. The only thing my DM adds as a strain to SDOE is probably texture memory. Because the damage is modelled as textures in my DM.

Also, because my damage textures contain a lot of visual damage, they are set to appear only after a lot of damage has occured. There may be a possibility of making gradual visual damage that has bits of damage appear after certain damage hits. The best way to do this would be the like in the P51 with small 3d models of bullets. I don't think the P51 damage holes take too much out of the FPS as they are, however if you put a lot in one place or all over the plane, they would *probably* begin to eat into the FPS.

And about making new skins and such, I have included 2 extra optional skins in my v6.2 download for people to try if they are getting tired of the original Ju88 skin. These two optional skins have all the damage textures done for them too, so all you have to do is install them! I may also make new damaged skins available from my site soon for download.

I'm not currently planning on doing this DM on other planes. I had thought of this though, maybe in the future sometime if the demand for this type of DM modelling is high. Thanks for your comments.
