I think you can expect around 10FPS with that type of system, thats being honest, I had a very similar setup before a mass of upgrades last year. The ATI will do the job, but if you were able to upgrade to even a cheap Voodoo you'd get about 10fps more and have a far better picture, where SDOE hits hard is on your processor, thats what would give you the highest fps increase, but since this is a laptop, I don't thnik you can really go adding a new g/card etc can you?~Nat~

Joey,The amount of normal memory you have will also affect your frame rate. We'll test my son's and let you know. He has a 333 Celeron w/ 64MB of ram and a Real3D starfighter board with 4mb of video ram. Sounds pretty similar to yours. ------------------ "Where'd he GO!?!?" thunk-thunk-thunk-zing-OUCH That answered my question IP: Logged |

Ok Joey,Here's what we got last night. Resolution 800X600, texture detail sliders at max setting. (DirectX7 and WinMe) Training mission over Dover, P-47D. In cockpit 22-29 fps Outside view (F2) 50fps Training mission over Rhineland. Yak vs Yak 8 vs 8 (16 planes) In cockpit 13-17fps. Outside cockpit 10-15 fps. As planes went down the frame rate picked up from these numbers. Training mission over africa, F4U 1D. Over water: In cockpit 22-26 fps Outside plane 37-45 fps Over land: In cockpit 18-22 fps Outside plane 25-30fps I was actually surprised his frame rates were so good. ------------------ "Where'd he GO!?!?" thunk-thunk-thunk-zing-OUCH That answered my question [This message has been edited by Da Jug head (edited 02-27-2001).] IP: Logged |

I got another big surprise. I just installed the latest Nvidia refernece dirvers for my TNT2 and hit framerates of 60fps with one plane!Good grief, it's like someone stuck an original GeForce SDR in my system! As for my son's rates. THe count on the screen appeared to be accurate from all visual impressions. ------------------ "Where'd he GO!?!?" thunk-thunk-thunk-zing-OUCH That answered my question IP: Logged |
