Well, for the P-38 line anyway. Thank jedi for the working canopy. It also has a yoke now! ------------------ Tony "Razer" Martin FS Hangar [This message has been edited by Razer (edited 02-26-2001).] IP: Logged |

no, i changed the fuel gauges on the P-38 cockpit, it would be easier to just take the other canopys and start over.IP: Logged |

The way the P38cockpit.sm is made, it requires changing the actual cockpit model itself to get at the canopy parts. Fortunately, the model seems to have been made with this modification in mind, since it "cuts apart" very easily. That said, you CAN use the P38Fcockpit.sm in the other planes and the canopy should work. The problem is that the guage DOFs are always keyed to the actual plane I believe, so you need to change the properties in OPS to reference the right model. HOWEVER, for the yoke to actually function, you need to change a couple of property lines in the actual AIRCRAFT .sm, which will cause a mismatch online (at least the P38F did not have the necessary property line in it already, so I'm assuming the others do not). I haven't looked at the "high res" P-38 cockpit model TS put in with the gunsight pack yet. I should be able to do something with that one too, if there is any interest, but the model is more complex, and the textures may not lend themselves to "easy" conversion... I might do the opening canopy on that nice Spit cockpit that's in the gunsight pack, too.

do you guys know that the canopy for early P-38s did not open like the one you have in the pic above??? they are hinged on the side and flip open to the left as your looking at the rear of the plane twards the nose.IP: Logged |

Only if you are talking pre F series. All the F's I have pictures of they are the roll down, with top flip.

Do you think we can incorperate this cockpit in all the P-38s and place that into the pack?IP: Logged |

All the pictures of the F, G, J, and L that I have show the canopy top flips up, and the sides slide down into the wing. I only did the one sliding side tho...------------------ --jedi-- IP: Logged |

Actually...I didn't know that! I thought they just had a release or something and "dropped" down into a slot. Window-crank handles, eh? There's always an interesting tidbit of info around here... (and no, I'm not planning on adding a revolving window crank in the cockpit!) ------------------ --jedi-- IP: Logged |
