I've got as far as I can with the gunsight project without referring to the community. I have optional reticules (historically correct ones) for the Ju88A-4, Bf109s and Fw190s, the P-38 and all British fighters.

Now the problem, as many of the gunsight references are included in the aircraft.sm files I would have to alter these to allow the correct sight to display in the Corsairs for example. I can easily do this and retain the original reticule graphic for those that like it. However as part of my optional download the changes I make to the gunsight references in the sm files would allow those that are interested to download a full set of historical sights (US Navy, early and late war RAF, 2 USAAF, Russian and Japanese). These could easily make the PP6.1 everything is ready to go.

What's the demand like? Opinions please. As I say the changes I will make are just texture references and would allow users to choose to download the historic sight only if they desire.

Here are some examples:

RAF Type 1, Mark II - mid to late war RAF fighters:

USAAF N-9 mid war USAAF fighters:

Revi D12-C mid to late war Luftwaffe fighters:

I would prefer a full set of historical gunsights.

Forgive my ignorance... but why cant you just release the new gunsight textures that replace the current ones?

I can but there are only 4 original gunsight reticules, I would like to use about 8 separate textures to represent the various ones used by the different combatants during the war. For example the Luftwaffe used 3 different versions of the Revi, the British 3 different sights, the USAAF 3, the Japanese 2, the USN 2, the Russians 1 to my knowledge.

Ok, why would anyone not want the correct gunsites? I think we all want them the way they were and as close to real as possible.
