*PLEASE NOTE THIS IS BETA*

Do not download this if you are unfamiliar or uncomfortable with changing parfiles, removing aircraft files and other stuff.

This is not a revision to the online standard.

The zip file contains extensive readme documentation for the pack and two new parfiles data12 and data13.

Important: Before unzipping, please make sure you have renamed the current data12 and if you have a data13 (this is not in the current pp6.0 pack but you may have another addon using it).

Also, do not download this unless you have pp6.0 already installed on your system. It requires data10 and data11 from pp6.0 to work. I don't have the betapack readme with me to describe the changes but there are many, a couple of highlights:

Loadouts - hybridization of current standard and spoons net package. Please review the readme for details. Online missions must be edited for the new NET loadouts to use them. Please use a clear identifier to save problems down the road if the NET loadouts stop being used. I am suggesting filenames with NET at the beggining of it. Once a mission is edited for these loadouts they will not be compatible with the current pp6.0.

Planes: All have been updated to Condor's latest dm revisions. Lanc and B17G have new engine dms for testing. Lanc has a surprise for bombadiers, and I increased its weight back to pp5.3 levels - this seems to slow it down and reduce it's climb rate - which got out of wack in pp6.0. Ju88 is based on Harman's dm 6.1.

New additions: Ju188, PZL 11c, Sea Hurricane, and P38F (?).

Not added: well a bunch of stuff for no other reason, than I wasn't sure of or comfortable with the latest development status of a bunch of things. If you have an update that is ready and includes the above revisions, please confirm download site and availability and I will try to add the changes. Examples: 109s, p38j, corsairs, a6m2 and a6m5 update from Razer (someone reported a desktop bug and I didn't keep up to date on where this ended up).

Known issues: Spitfire IXe is desktopping when it explodes, I haven't received a fix but understand there is one out there. Also the AI can't take off due to a problem in the left wing. Please ensure I get it for the final release.

I haven't tested this alot yet and am looking forward to feedback through two routes. 1. This forum (either here or in TechTalk) 2. my website - see below (submit a plane evaluation with detailed comments).

That's it for now.

Oh yeah the link (it's a 14 Mb file - hey that's half the size of the last version!)

Spin i have an updated P-38F i'll send you. It has the cockpit framing painted to go with the scheme and i added antenna wires just a few mins ago. I'll zip it all up and send it over. The P-39 might back it, it has the cockpit moved to an SM file, updated FM to remove the nose heavy effect, the pivot point is moved thats to pachy. now it nolonger pivots on the nose and it has a better turning radias now.

i have one or two things to do to it. Then it will finally be ready for the plane pack.

heres a pic of the P-38F with updated framing and antenna wires. I'm going to set the insides of the intakes to black like they should be then send this off to spin.

I'm only doing this since it's an easy fix and i want the plane in the pack, and the P-39 so i can fly it online. I just need to finish up the stuff.

I can get there, but that problem does exist if you try to link directly the the file. I suggest going to my webpage and then adding the folder name. I'll try to add a button on the main page to make it a link from the website.

Sorry for any inconvenience. What do you expect for a free service. I gotta say though, Angelfire is pretty good - I have 50Mb free and the connection is usually pretty good.

Hi Spin,

I noticed a few things so far in my limited testing:

The he100d has no ammo in the training missions.

The ju 188 has no training missions and one other plane(forgot the name) just above it has no training missions as well.

I started with a clean install:
FSSDOE 1.0
Patch 1.5
Nations V2
PlanePack 6.0
Beta Plane Pack 6.1

I'm a little confused by some of your statements.
First is this an upgrade to PP6 or does it replace all of the planes

On the following planes, Corsairs, p-38j, and zeros- are those being removed from the plane pack, or do you mean you're not including the updates to these planes since PP6 because you're unsure of where they stand?

Condor, thanks for the heads up on the He100 training. Perhaps the blanks loadout was deleted. I'll check the loadout and mission later.

I think the Ju188 had training missions with it. I'll review that to ensure that if it does the folder is named correctly. If not I'll try to make some basic ones.

Da Jug head, this beta is an update to pp6, it replaces the aircraft sm and loadouts (present in data12 of pp6 and the beta pp6.1). All planes present in pp6 are carried forward. This reduces the download substantially because files that haven't changed (all of data10 and data11 are not included and remain the same). This is why you need pp6.0 for it to work.

There are several update programs in process for the planes I mentioned, for example, the a6m2 and a6m5 have a few enhancements posted by Razer, I did not include these due to some bug reports - so I've included the version provided by Condor which to the best of my knowledge doesn't include these changes.

Hope I've clarified this for you,

Spin

Heya spin...

I know the last thing you need is something else on your plate, but are there plans to do a ground unit pack as well to incorporate all the new stuff that's been done? I am getting major probrlems now when I play SDOE-- textures turning to black, constant lock-ups even when playing plane pack planes, and other very annoying buggy things happening.

I don't know the cause of it, but between all the betas I have, the DM changes, and the loadout changes, something is fried...I want to do a reinstall, but also don't want to lose the stuff I have....so if a new plane pack with these changes and a ground pack were done, I could at least narrow down my problems.....I never had lock-ups or texture problems before.

I have already deleted my texture chaches, and it is OK for a while, but then the problems come back. Also-- doing ScanDisk-- there is always a problem where the size of my texture cache files don't match up to their actual size (does this make sense?)...so something is definitely wrong here!!

...Spin,

Check with Condor regarding the status of all the 109s and the Dora...

I did major FM overhauls on them, then forwarded them onto him to add his "engine DM magic".

(Actually Yardstick forwarded the Dora to him...after he tested it)

Cool Zur,

Maybe that's what I've got then - Condor are the 109 and 190d9 updates in the last stuff you sent me?

By the way the loadout for the he100d was goofed up (it was missing a bunch of brackets). I've fixed the brackets and it is working correctly now.

Hi Spin,

Yes, they are the lastest I sent you. You should be all set.

Thanks for the update on the he100d as well.

Do you know what the status is on the killable pilot? Is it going to be included in the 6.1 update or since the size and number of files involved is so small, will it be a separate download targeted for some time after pp6.1?

I have found a few other small things(some of which may be old problems:

Ju-88A4 - has two damage model testing missions in training.

JU88A4XV - Has no training missions.
Ju 188 - Has no training missions.
He100d - Has no loadouts(already corrected)
Fw190A8 - The tail bounces alot on the runway.
Fw190D9 - The tail bounces alot on the runway.
TA152 - The right rear fuselage is not mapped correctly.

Go229 - Looks awesome and flys great now. It does not have the engine damage code in it. Do you want me to add it for completeness sake?

Heinkle162 - It has the Go229 wording in the takeoff training mission. It too does not have the engine damage code in it. Do you want me to add it for completeness sake?

Ju-88DN - This is an awesome bomber The rear of the outer engines is not mapped/aligned correctly.

Mistel1 - The Bf109 does not have the engine damage code in it. Do you want me to add it for completeness sake?

Mistel3 - The Fw190 does not have the engine damage code in it. Do you want me to add it for completeness sake? The bomber also has a bad texture on the top of the left engine.

In TRAINING:
Japan, Italy, SovietUnion, France, and Australia show up with "str" in front of them.

I will keep testing and post anything further I find.

Condor,

Thanks a million for your testing and feedback, it's really helpful. I'll note all of the items in the to fix list.

A general response to the issues you brought up rather than specifics.

On the killable pilot - now is a good time to add it, but I haven't seen any additions yet except for Tailslide's release. Unfortunately, I am a little hesitant to try to copy over the info into the other pilot files. If someone creates killable pilots for all of the existing pilots in the pack then I'll add them - for testing in a beta 2. Mace has released several pilots for his planes which will need to be added to the list as well.

If you can do the damage code for the planes you mentioned go for it for the sake of consistency. It would be nice to have a common starting point for this.

I wasn't planning to fix training mission, hangar issues at this time. Some of the issues you mentioned are already documented from pp6.0. These are all in a separate parfile and if I start making changes then I need to increase the pack size. As this is not a compatibility issue (except for vehicles - which if you don't have them online it can be kind of frustrating to try to destroy them), I will consider updating the parfile and issuing it but not as an online standard update - perhaps at some point soon though. I am trying to minimize duplicated files as much as possible - those files contained in data13 eventually will get distributed into data10 and 11 in a major update (ie pp7.0). I'll get rid of the duplicate dm testing mission for the ju88a4.

The str issue is a nations problem.

Thanks again for the feedback - it's essential to releasing a quality pack.

Razer,

The mission problems are because they don't exist or haven't been properly edited, not because of any parfile problems.

Smoketrail,

I received a bug report on the hurricane pilot - I placed the pilot file in the wrong folder, doh! - this will be corrected in the next version. Thanks for noting this.

Rendsburger,

I am not planning to edit the mission directory at this time. Your request will be noted for the future. I believe a mission parfile with stuff like this may be the way to go at some point in the future, restricting missions in the planepack to those required for the planepack aircraft only (after the patch is released and the OpenPlane folder eliminates the restriction on the number of parfiles).

One minor but useful suggestion?

Please flip the installer flag that lets me set the location of the Start menu folder. Right now the PP installer always places the PlanePack folder at the "root" of my start menu's Programs folder. I place all my games in a subfolder called (get this!) "Games". At an absolute minimum I'd like to be able to modify the path to Games/PlanePack (which you can do in the type-in area) but even better I'd like to place it inside my SDoE folder.

Is there any way to "hunt out" the SDoE folder in Start and default to being inside it?
