Hello, all...

I've been away from the community for quite a long time now, but am very happy to see that so many things have been going on in my absence! Ever since the release of the first plane pack, I had never suspected I'd see a plane pack 6.0 The staying power this game has with such a great community is fantastic.

Anyways, on to my subject - Ever since I first played SDOE I've seen one nagging bother which takes away from some of the realistic enjoyment of the game - and that's the Impact flashes. Impact flashes in SDOE are huge white/yellow blobs created when a round of ammo hits an object. They don't vary in size - regardless of the caliber/type of ammunition. Followed by these yellow blobs are generic bits of debris, which shed the same amount, again regardless of the type/caliber of round. Its funny to just riddle away at another aircraft with .303's and watch huge amounts of debris pour out of the aircraft endlessly. To me, the amount of debris seems about right for a 20mm round, but not a .303. Does anyone else agree with me here?
Although I'm foolishly illerate with OPS and all, it seems as though this should be something fairly easy to correct... so to all you ops gurus out there: is this at all possible?

I don't want to seem like I'm ranting or anything - I think SDOE at this stage is amazing and gives me the most realistic overall feeling of flight, beating any other flightsim. Take it from me - I've flowen cessnas + warriors through all sorts of crazy aerobatics, and SDOE greatly emulates the true physics of an aircract in flight.

Regards,
Captain Canuck

Thats hard coded into the game, But maybe with the new patch we could someday add flashes for each gun time.

i have a tif for the guns hits someone gave me and it makes the hits a nice small flash. from a long distance you can't see it and when your at normal distance and your firing it looks like a spark or small flash and looks a lot better then the factory flash.

I have a small flash I use (can't remember where I got it though) - it's less annoying but a bit tougher to see when you hit an opponent. I tend not to use debris for two reasons - one - it's an fps drain and two - as you stated.

That well know artist Jetlag, did some very nice tracers and smaller impact flashes. IMO one of the best mods in the game

Download my GunHit tifs here. There are two, small and medium. I prefer the smaller one personaly. You need to place the tif you want to use in "Media/Effect/Textures/" and rename it to GunHit.tif.

Thankyou thankyou! I've been also complaining about the large yellow blobs caused by a simple .303 round, the new impact rounds are much much better!
