Does anyone that's flown the JU88 Stuka think this is flys a little slugish? or is it me... (I have no idea how it flew) and is there a sound file for the screaming dive, or is that possable?
I really like this plane!
I don't see many online missions with this plane or I don't see anyone using them if their there. If you post them I will download. Thanks.

Oops yes the Ju87, will this sound file work with the wind sound in the game?
Thanks.

Yes it will work with the wind sound, you operate it by pressing the g key as you enter your dive, it has 2 alternate siren sounds in the Zip file. Pick the one you prefer.

Yes it is slugish, and no it's not just you. Yes I have online and offline missions with the Ju87 but I have no where to post them. If you want I can email them in a zip file to you.

Thanks Himdog I would love some missions! So is it the way the planes made in the game, or is it the way it really flew why it's sluggish?
Or do I need a better machine....
Gotta love this plane though.

As far as I can tell from the reading I've done, the Stuka is supposed to be sluggish. It was slow, couldn't evade, and what made it a great divebomber wasn't the speed that it dove at, but the fact the pilots could almost "hang it in the air" with the dive brakes deployed. This ability is what made it such an accurate dive bomber.

The sluggishness of this aircraft was made it such an easy target in the Battle of Britain. The Stuka squadrons sent across the Channel were decimated by the RAF, even when the Stuka's had a fighter escort. All it took was 2 or 3 Brit's getting past the fighter screen, and they would have a field day with the Stukas.

Even in EAW, the Stukas make for great target practice. The tactics against a stuka are simple. Dive underneath where the tail gunner can't shoot and unload your weapons into the belly. This makes for a good explosion when the bombers are still carrying their payloads.

DJH - the Ju87 in SDOE can't maintain altitude with a standard bombload.

I believe someone tweaked the plane just enough so that you could maintain altitude, and even gain slowly (after all ground starts should be possible, as that was the only way it was done in the war ), I'm not sure though if that's slated for the PP update or not.

Geez, Werner. I've made a few missions with the 87. The AI flys it just fine. I've even jumped into the gunner's seat a few times with no trouble. The only thing is trying to shoot 'em down with a high speed aircraft. Not as easy as you'd think. Great fun though. Mind you after my reinstall I'll have tostart all over again. Oh, well.

Da Jug Head: the Stuka's vulnerability was known long before BoB.
As an example, in may 1940 (don't have the exact date handy, I'm at work right now) 5 H-75 (or P-36s, as USAAF called 'em) of GCII/5 intercepted a large formation of unescorted Ju87s, at least 40 of them. In a matter of minutes 16 were shot down (all confirmed), with no casualty nor damage on the allied side.

Hi Werner, Von and all.

I have updated the ju87 horsepower just a bit for the pp6.1 update. It should be able to takeoff and climb a little bit with a full bomb load now.

How do you apply the dive brakes on the Stuka? and how much will they slow you down?

The G-2 (tank busting variant) didn't have dive brakes. This is the model in the game.

Yardstick, but you can change the loadout, to carry bombs instead of cannons. So, dive brakes will be nice.

Yes, but this would require changes to the 3D model and therefore the creation of a new aircraft.

Geez, Sunray. Unless you airstart the AI from high altitude, on a long range flight across the channel they'll arrive at the target so low (due to alt loss) they get caught in their own bomblast. Rather inopportune if you're flying alongside some online.

The Stuka siren is a great addon.

But I'd like to ask the guy who did the wail
in the EngineRun of "Nice Sound for the Stuka" (there's the 109 engine sound - CFS I suspect and the wail in the
background) - do you have the wail sound solo?
I'd like to play with it a little.
{Johannes, Commando?}
