Ok heres my problem. Airfield and target text display corrupt in the mission editor. Ive narrowed this down to the planes loadout.ppf files as the corrupt text being displayed is from the aircraft loadout.ppf files. Now Ive talked about this problem before but I have found out something new. I have 112 folders in my aircraft directory. The second I add a new aircraft in (It doesnt matter which one it is) and open up a Rhineland Training mission the Tank Factory and Taunus Airfield text go corrupt. Also, the Etrich Taube name will not display properly. It sets back to the A-36A (As thats the first aircraft in my Aircraft directory) The second I remove a plane (It doesnt matter which one it is) and go back to 112 folders in the aircraft directory, all is well.

So I ask you, is there a limit somewhere? Because to me it appears so.

Commando, make sure to make backups just incase it doesnt work for you.

P.S. My Mission Editor just crapped out now.... I dont think this games likes all these addons.... I'm going to do a total reinstall of everything. One folder at a time till the problem arises again.

hmmmm....very interesting. My Mission Editor has been acting up for several months, and now won't open at all. I have 104 planes in my Aircraft folder not counting Airfoils, Cockpit, etc.

You might be onto something Argon.

It would be interesting to hear from someone (if there is anyone) who has over a hundered planes and is NOT having Mission Editor problems, and see what system they are running.

Jerry and commando, cut out 20 or so aircraft and paste them in some other directory. Then open up the mission ediot and see if all is well.

Ah..Ha.. Taking out 10 planes made no difference, I still got a .dll error message when trying to open a mission.

However, when I took out 20 planes the Mission Editor did open. I tried it on several different missions.

But, I still get lines of text (hangar or squadron text?) showing on the mission map in the editor.

Nice find Argon. Do you think there is a fix? Or do we add it to the bug list for the patch boys?

ArgonV, I did a quick check by just renaming the aircraft folder so the mission editor was using the PP6.0 Par files only, well everything now works, this has got to be the reason, only the few mad people that have every plane going will get this (Am I talking about myself here, oh yes I am) sorry only the truely intelligent who get all the planes will see this, which is why it has not been a major to all those who downloaded PP6.0 .
Will try more extensive tests tommorow night.

Hmmm... Glad to see this is semi making sense. Try taking out the A36A. Ive found that this plane causes wierd things to happen. I believe a fix for this is to put every single thing in the aircraft directory into a par file. But Im not certain...

Commando, LoL! I have just about every plane there is, and then some. I have a TON of betas that have never ben released and I extracted PP6 and took what I wanted out of it to tweak. Indeed this is a problem as half a year from now we will have more planes than we know what to do with...... This needs to be addressed ASAP in the Patch.

Another note: This has only to do with the loadout.ppf files. If you delete them, but keep the rest all is well... Sorta. But I like large amounts of extracted planes so this really does need to be fixed

I put all 20 planes back and the Mission Editor still works, but the text also shows up. It appears the text is from the mission briefings.

Took the A36 out, no change.

HA! I just opened the mission editor like I was going to create a new mission, instead of just opening a mission. I selected Dover as the terrain. The extra text lines read, "...not responding. Check your network connection". That would come from the stringtable.ppf file. Not the mission briefings like I have noticed before.

Same with the Rhineland terrain.

This is wierd.

Talking about mission editor, mine is 'deleting' all the ground objects in the missions : they won't show up in the game also I see them in the .mis file if I open them with the notepad. Wanted to have a look at it next week end, but as you are talking about that...
This is happening since I supposedly did a 'clean' install of the game late last year after solving video card drivers problems.
Meantime I play downloaded missions !

This problem has hit every French-speaking SDOE player, but I've just realized there a way to fix it without setting your SDOE in English... I'll give it a look tonight.

I seem to recall somebody saying the game didn't like having too many folders in it. My latest problem was caused by either those French cars or the infantry plugs. (Highly likely to be operator failure.) Lost my media folder. Had to do a COMPLETE reinstall. The game still does work quite right due I think to not having everything where it belongs.
