SDOE is more realistic.
because the me262 had very primative jet engines they had no afterberner(or re-heat as us english like to call it ) the re-heat is what causes the flame out the back of modern jet fighter like the f16 and f15.
when thy dont have the re-hear engaged all that is thrown out the back is very hot air no flame. this is ofter confused meny people think that all jet engines have flames coming out the back of them this is not trew.

JET engine+ re-heat (AFTERBERNER)=FLAME
JET engine-no re-heat=no flame just hot air.

the princable of re-heat is that once the engine is at 100%percent power they then drop fuel into the hot jetpipe. the fuel ignights the gasses from the bernt off fuel are very dense this means that in afterberner the engine is not working any harder but it is producing more thrust(because of the denser gasses being thrown out the back)this also means of corse that you are using alot more fuel.

i must also point out that re-heat is controlled on the trottle leaver on modern jets.running at idel if you push the engine to 100% power it is still running on no-reheated power. above 100% reheat kicks in .

look at falcon 4 for a good explanation of this.

can anybody explane it better then me. i understand very well (just done a project on jet engines at school) but i cant convay very well what i have learnt.

Actually, the small smoke comming out the back of the Me262 is WWII Fighters isnt a flame. Its supposed to the the heat distorting the air with a little smoke mixed in. A primitive WWII jet wouldnt have a flame out the back, but it would have heat distortion and some small ammounts of exaust smoke.
