The Citroen 7CV.A BIG thanks to Pachy for releasing it recently for SDOE as a ground object. Ever since I saw it, I thought...I have to drive that thing! I used to go into the "Drivers" seat by entering slew mode and just imagine driving it...now, you can! This version comes with a fully functioning steering and wheel system, the instrument panel has three gauges and it handles quite well. It also has its own sounds and you'll be surprised how many "jumps" you'll find in the SDOE terrain to try this thing on. The readme has HEAPS more information. It comes complete with four Training and one Hangar mission. In one mission, you must escape an German air-raid on a small French town...the Citroen is your only hope, believe me, this mission isn't easy. This version has no armament to speak of, but I might add an MG or two as the French resistance did in WWII. Some screenshots below: Anyone who ever wanted to explore SDOEs terrain by car should pick this up. Harm, that is really cool and i add the same idea a few months ago but didn't have the time to finish what i started.I have a willis Jeep that i started modeling awhile back. If you want it to make into a driveable object like i first wanted it to i'll send it over. IP: Logged |

jeep as been sent, only thing i can think of is putting the wheels on the stick and not on the rudders. That way you don't loose control above 70 mpg, but i do love to see it flip over and break into parts.nice work Harm.. ------------------ Tony "Razer" Martin FS Hangar IP: Logged |

also add this line to the wheels (ptMaterial 'rubber)it will make them rubber if they aren't already and it will handle better. IP: Logged |

What happens when, I mean, if it gets run over by one of the drivable tanks? Looks like a whole new game being born here. I mean, aside from the one where you can drive a bus in downtown Chicago or where ever it is.IP: Logged |

Sunray, I don't it'll crush just yet but you can stop a bomber from taking off with it You'll just end up in flames upside down by the side of the runway with the plane on top of you ------------------ Visit FS:SDOE Online IP: Logged |

Love it! Now how about that jeep and then we can get in the jeep and go to our planes then switch to the plane and take off. Getting very real! It would be the only sim that I know of that you could do that in. I would like to see how this drives with the rubber tires also.------------------ Hawk Forum manager and bar keep http://rcwarbirds.com/ IP: Logged |

This is so cool! But I can't get it to work- must you have Nations? I tried changing the country to Great Britian. I get CTD when the missions start.I am trying to download Nations, but simfiles keeps giving me a page not found error after about 20 seconds of trying to download it... ------------------ -Sv Wings with Wires IP: Logged |

Sv, yes, it would help immensely if you have Nations v2 since it is a French vehicle in SDOE, and it has a French squadron assigned to it in all the missions, and also the Planepack 6.0 just to make sure, it should work just fine after that!Hope you get it working. PS, if you have trouble getting nations, change the country value in the loadout file to Great Britain or something and also double check that you have a default squadron in the mission. Or just try making a new mission with the car. ------------------ Visit FS:SDOE Online [This message has been edited by Harman_5 (edited 02-09-2001).] IP: Logged |

you know harm, this is really something. I wish i finished the jeep months ago. You really can't see all the detail in the towns flying above them. The towns are really cool to drive around in and this will open online plane if people are driving around and then we can have some real ground attack missions.------------------ Tony "Razer" Martin FS Hangar IP: Logged |

My thoughts exactly Razer! You never notice all the little things on the ground when flying, like the little houses and stuff, and hidden pathways and things but then, you never really notice those little black specks high high above you dropping more little specks toward....ahhh!!!! LOL!! Seriously though, it takes so long to move from a base to another or from a town to another, who said SDOE has small terrain!? ------------------ Visit FS:SDOE Online [This message has been edited by Harman_5 (edited 02-09-2001).] IP: Logged |

Oooh, oooh how about making a transport truck that can deploy troops! and/or ammo to deployed paratroopers, ground troops, that are our out of ammo. you could have two fronts to play in this game. I don't know, maybe this is thinking to much out of the box. IP: Logged |

Those are all great ideas Von, but this stuff needs time, I'd imagine the troops would be static once deployed just like dropping non-explosive bombs from a plane from 0 altitude. It is possible though ------------------ Visit FS:SDOE Online IP: Logged |

It's FANTASTIC! I love the way you did the steering wheel and also have the two front wheels turn as well, despite the limitations of OPS. GREAT work! Just imagine how great Stormbird will be using the new OpenPlane if they can get proper ground vehicles working with engines turning the actual wheels instead of props, and all that stuff. Wow, the possibilities are astounding! This is very very cool [This message has been edited by Pete Hawk (edited 02-09-2001).] IP: Logged |

Harman, I experimented quite a bit with openplane & trying to get drivable ground units to perform like it should. The Tiger and Sherman I made, work great offline, except of course the AI. I never could get them to work properly online (unstable, sometimes works sometimes crashes). I am by no means a modeler, but as a programmer, I was able to figure out quite a few tricks with openplane + cut up the original tiger into more tank parts.Things I did have going in the tanks: Wheels controlled by the stick, Reverse, more realistic speed(though could use more work in hill climbing). Movable ground units would be a great addition to Online play, I myself just got too frustrated by the limitations with the game engine & some things not implemented with openplane. I never could figure out why the tanks cause ctds only online, they work perfectly well offline. Any ways, I thought you might want to look at the tanks to see how reverse was implemented, and how I set up the controls for the wheels and the like(tanks have hidden wheels/ + aircraft parts). Just a wild ideaok so we have an online mission were we have someone in the car. the person in the car is a very important germen scientist he fineds out the british are out to kill him because he has inside imformation about a new britsh development in science(haven though of anything yet) now he has to flee from the town he is in so what does he do take the car of corse.ok so he has to get from his lab (or whatever) to his house there is a road to his house. he gets is his car and drives as fast as he can to his house.we have 2 typhoons with rockets out to get him. Now hears the complicated bit is we get that proximaty thing that someon made (sorry cant remember name)where if you get close to it you win the mission. now we change the 3d moddle of it to look like a house with a garage on the side that has an open door and there is enough room inside for the car. now we some how make it that the scientist has to park his car in his garage to win the mission . so what happerens we place the modified house thingy somewhere in a village and we have the guy in that car start in a village quite near now the fastest root is buy road. so what he has to do is deive the car to his house and park in the garage and thats it but whilst he is trying to do that he hs 2 typhoons trying to shoot him up. what do ya think??? ------------------ WHATCH YOU TAIL [This message has been edited by Biggles3 (edited 02-10-2001).] IP: Logged |

Thanks guys!I was thinking of that German scientist too! I was going to model another person in the back seat of the car that looks like some important. I might even steal the MG from the front of the Ju88A4 and put it on the passenger side dashboard for some offensive/defensive armament. I'll be releasing version 2 of this car soon with some improvments on this car including more stable handling and a more free-revving engine, and a speed limiter. It'll appear at simfiles and my site soon. Cheers ------------------ Visit FS:SDOE Online IP: Logged |

I hate to bring this up but remember, rockets and bombs in SDOE are thermo nuclear weapons. That wouyld be a pretty easy mission to win in a Typhoon. What would be cool is a pistol of Bazooka to use against the Geramans in small skirmishes.I'm surprised you didn't add doors to it! Or we could just drive about as normal: IP: Logged |

This is so incredible. This is the kind of stuff that keeps me at SDOE, and copies of Rogue Spear in the shrink wrap on my shelf still. lolJust a thought... as much fun as this car is, and Razer's Jeep and Pachy's Kubelwagen will be, we need to be encouraging PMW (That's right, not BMW, but Pachy's Motorenwerke) to keep making us these vehicles. Anyone written him an email yet? Werner

Werner, I am in contact with Pachy and I'm not too sure if he has any new projects regarding vehicles however he is giving me heaps of feedback on this car and is even helping me with this Citroen. Version 2, as I said before, with more stable handling (not much rolling), freer engine and generally, an improvement will be a combined effort of Pachy and me from as far as I can see.------------------ Visit FS:SDOE Online IP: Logged |
