Free for the taking, a step-by-step detailed write-up with a few pictures for adding an extension to the MS Sidewinder Precision Pro.

You can download the Zip at my Website:

http://www.geocities.com/bear2790/cfs_specials.htm

Tested it on SDOE and MSCFS and it works well {:O)

The DOC might look ominous, but it's actually a simple MOD to do. Just take ur time and have fun with the process!

NOTE: be VERY careful removing the Trigger Button. It was designed for a one-way trip (being snapped into place during MFG) and I wound up breaking one of the trigger pivot arms. Used some electrical tape and it now looks and works same as before.

If anyone figures a way to remove the Trigger without breaking anything please let the rest of us know how you did it!

Cost for parts: less than $5.00

I included both Word6 and Notepad DOCs so that everyone should be able to open the Doc (I use Win95).

Any Q's feel free to ask.

Erm... I don't think my arms are long enough to reach the throttle and grip at the same time... or am I missing something here?

I bet my toes, secured in the right kind of socks, are as precise as my left hand
Seriously tho coupled to an external throttle that's surely a nice rig.

The comments I've been reading at the forums I've posted this at have so far been, ummmm, interesting and almost identical in content LOL. They've either been, "WOW" or critisizing - except for Luny's reply cause he covers both ends and averaged out that puts it in the middle!

JG3_Jetlag,
Your Q had it's own answer before the Q was posted {;O)

Luny,
I'll just bet they are LOL. Good insight in that reply.

Hawk, {:O) without U the MOD might not have ever materialized. Thanks for the encouragement.

Ground Pounder,
Nope, no kids around the place here. My cat does it for me. Kitty's VERY smart, can even use the john .... he he. Demanding tho, made me promise I'd get it a pair of flight goggles.

To sum up the buttons discussion:

I used them buttons cause they were there. I no longer use them but some wiring (perhaps some momentary buttons?) and a little soldering and those buttons can be placed anywhere someone wants them to be.
Hey, another MOD LOL

If you had the instructions for the Thrustmaster F22 or the FLCS now that would make sense.... and be super cool.... to do his with a stick that has so many needed controls on the base is kind of silly, unless you have other ways of handling those controls... I.E. a CH or TM throttle....
If you can find a way of doing this with a TM FLCS, please post it, no base controls... ;}

Everyone has been commenting about the buttons and over looking the obvious...

Add that much length to the stick, would get rid of the oversensitivity that occurs now and again ... This alone would make it worth sacrificing a Microsoft product Hmmm I have an extra Sidewinder laying around the house...

ah but then we could get really silly and do this....

remove the stick control mech from the base unit and make your own base with the long stick, make the base section a second "control panel" with your buttons and throttle on it, just lengthen the cables as needed, then you have a long base mouted stick and to your left or right you could put the base units with the other controls on it, now I aint much for ripping things apart, but if you can build rudders and lengthen control cable, then you can take it to the next logical step and split your stick into 2 parts and have stick and throttle/buttons seperate.

ritt.. care to write up how to do that

Snickers hit right on the mark when he mentioned the Sidewinder sensitivity issue! That was the main point caught my attention in that post I read here at FS Forums last week. Even with the sens. sliders set to min the dang stick was just too touchy when used in FS.

Nat, sounds like an excellent idea! If/when I try it I'll do a write-up/procedure just like the Extension Mod DOC. I don't have a separate throttle and can't just run out and buy one.
I need to think about that mod, see what might be easiest to impliment {:O)
