Hi guys, If your not under any NDA who is leaving to help on the stormbird tech demo? Just wondering how thin the building ranks are going to be after that. IP: Logged |

Even when the ranks do thin, I think others will step up. I mean look at guys like Scorpion Rouge, a few of them out there teamed up with a few returnees like Falck (Pete Hawk too?) and we could be more or less back in business.Werner ------------------ Visit Abbeville Field Today! IP: Logged |

Aladar, you just have no idea LOLIf I were to be moving onto Stormbird I don't know if I could say so or not, but I wouldn't be leaving SDOE, SDOE is my love and has taught me so much, brought me so much enjoyment, and hell, it's brought me all of you guys, the good and the bad "debates" LOL All it would mean is that SDOE would only get a couple of hours per day, instead of the 13 or so it's getting right now.. what me leave? You gotta be kidding Aladar... if you kept upto date with Stormbird, you would realise that in very simple terms, it will be SDOE with loads of stuff that SDOE has been missing, so, bigger and better.. you're damn right IP: Logged |

Stormbirds may be better than SDOE, no one knows for sure in this world of over hyped sims.I do know that SDOE can do everything that Stormbirds can do and more at this moment in time and for some time to come. It could be a very long while before you are loading Stormbirds on your hard drive. I visited the Stormbirds forum and it looks like most of our plane makers have asked to work on this sim. If I understand the Stormbird project correctly than SDOE planes could be used in it and it's planes could be used in SDOE so why not just develope planes for both? SDOE is here and now and still has increadible things to come. Remember when all the guys left this forum for that great new bomber sim being developed?

Hawk---Me being a chicken, birds talk to me....and a little bird not only told me-- but showed me a few things about Stormbird....I assure you---do the math--- Stormbird has the SDOE engine-- would they really keep it the same as SDOE? Not if they have a chance of selling their project....SDOE is dated--- 2-3 years old.....it will be on my hard drive forever-- but it is dated. Stormbird is the here and now--- and if it is even half of what I see it is now- it will be an improvement....and if you think I am blowing hot air-- I have been here from the get-go-- I am not a bandwagon jumper--- I just calls it as I sees it ------------------ Brought to you by the campaign for a better Dauntless! Your right Hawk, the depths of SDOE (Open Plane) haven't been plumbed to the full yet, and I know it'll be a very long time before we sit here and can honestly say that there's sims out there that we can do more with and mean SDOE has had it's day, it'll be a very long time before that ever happens, lets face it, if IL2 and Stormbirds reach their full potential, they wont take the place of SDOE, but be along side it, unlike that other bomber sim you're talking about, that maney in the end haven't bothered with, and simply couldn't have the same lifespan as SDOEIP: Logged |

SDOE is a WW2 Flight Sim, Stormbirds is a WW2 Flight sim. That's the only thing these sims have in common other then the Openplane code. This is only a file format system to allow the importing of planes, objects, etc. technicly speaking we could take Combat Flight Sim 2 and add the OP code and get an OP sim. (sounds easier then it is) This is why the code that michael and company made is so outstanding. Yes most upcoming sims are hyped. But hey, things can only go up and get better. ------------------ Tony "Razer" Martin "Making SDOE a dangerous Place, One plane at a time!" FS Hangar IP: Logged |

If you cut through all the talk of bugs, online problems, limitations, etc. One of the things that is the most frustrating about WW2 sims is that you only ever get a bite sized chunk of the whole experience. Granted the only way to get 100% is an option nobody wants to contemplate (ie: grab yer' guns and head to Europe boys), but it is frustrating. I mean look at SDOE, we have some absolutely fantastic, brilliantly built planes, but we also have a few gaping holes in our plane set. I'm not going to start a list because we've all seen the lists before. But a question to those who know more about this than I do - is it reasonably possible that we could import ALL the work done to upgrade SDOE into Stormbirds? If not all, what can be imported? When Stormbirds goes gold I think it'll be time to start prepping the "lifeboats" and porting as much over there as we can. I guess that while the game will have better features, yada yada, if we can't import all our work here, we'll be back to a tiny plane set again. Not to mention terrains, ground objects, Nations, etc. Werner ------------------ Visit Abbeville Field Today! IP: Logged |

Werner, I think worst case scenario is that things from SDOE would need moding to use new code and features in Stormbird, ofcourse it could be that even that wont work, but Stormbird is Open Plane, so I guess the very worst scenario is that we'd have to build stuff over again, but the point is that we can do that, it's not closed, and I think other than that we have a good staring point cause we've done it all once already.. pain in the ass, yes, but still, it's Open Plane, we can do it Really though, we simply don't know enough right now to speculate, and I don't think it's anything to worry about at all IP: Logged |

Jeeves Stormbirds is not here and now as you say. It is just in it's infant stages of developement. SDOE is here and now and I say a bird in the bed is better than two in the, hmmmmmmm, let me think about that.------------------ Hawk Forum manager and bar keep http://rcwarbirds.com/ IP: Logged |
