Beware...the next visit to your enemies airbase may not be so pleasant. Why? Well, as if there weren't enough things shooting at you while you fly, add one more to the list... These little annoyances will shoot at any enemy plane that flies. Not that they can do much with their puny rifles, but they try! Their legs stay put while their torsos move like a pivot. Get these infantrymen from simFiles now, or my site soon.
Also included is a "Fire" to keep anyone who is cold, warm! Guess I was just bored..... ------------------ Visit FS:SDOE Online [This message has been edited by Harman_5 (edited 02-02-2001).] [This message has been edited by Harman_5 (edited 02-02-2001).] IP: Logged |

Hi Harman,Sounds Great! Why can't we use these as our paratroopers or bailed out pilot? It doesn't look like he is falling through the ground. Any thoughts? ------------------ Condor out IP: Logged |

Nice one!Have you tried flying upside down using tailsides "You can kill my pilot" update" Maybe you can bag a plane! Would make a nice strafing targets on the way home. How many have you put on screen at once!

Hey Condor,Yes, the infantrymen don't fall through the ground. I'm not sure whether we'd be able to use these men as paratroopers though, because the infantrymen you see above are based on the Matador 40mm ground object. Thus, they are considered ground objects. I just replaced the matadors parts with LODs from a pilot, re-adjusted the "obWheels" values to keep their feet above the ground and bang! There they are! You could try adding "obWheels" to the paratroopers though, just a thought. ------------------ Visit FS:SDOE Online IP: Logged |

Pye, No I haven't actually! But it sounds tempting!! They would make good targets to strafe, however they won't let you pass without a fight! I have put up to 16 on the screen at once, then the frame rate goes down sharply probably because each man has two DOFs to rotate to face the target. You could in theory put quite a lot on the map providing you have a good system. ------------------ Visit FS:SDOE Online IP: Logged |

You might also see the performance improve if you have low detail LODs with agressive switch-in distances. That is, if you don't have them already :-)charm IP: Logged |
