The Aussie's fought everywhere the British army fought near enough, the odd exceptions were in the early part of the War eg Norway and France before Dunkirk. One of Aussie members will give you more accurate information but Rommel was kept out of Torbruk by the Aussies in the first siege.IP: Logged |

Nations comes with full historical notes for Australian squadrons, including theatre information. Unfortunately (I just noticed) they don't display, not even in English, if you run SDOE in German. You can (temporarily) change the language by replacing in the SDDEMONS.INIcode:
Language=langGerman
by
code:
Language=langUS
I gave up using SDOE in my native language myself long ago due to bugs in the mission editor. French squadrons have the same problem. If you find someone to write the translations, I'm sure the Nations Team would be grateful!

Aussie and Canadian (Nations 3?) units seem to have been particularly prevalent in Bomber Command in Europe. I have just been leafing through Osprey Publishing's "Halifax Squadrons of World War 2" and between them, RAAF and RCAF units are featured in no less than 9 out of the 40 color profiles in the book.They also come in for special mention in Denis Richards' "The Hardest Victory - RAF Bomber Command in the Second World War". ------------------ Be seeing you, 3dp Visit RAF Harkness! Aussies saw combat in:Africa Europe Burma India New Guinea and I think maybe even in China, but I'm not sure about that. As far as Pacific Islands go, we need an Australian to answer that- AGAS? ------------------ "Where'd he GO!?!?" thunk-thunk-thunk-zing-OUCH That answered my question IP: Logged |

Geez guys....which Islands....Well simple answer is get out ya atlas....start at the Coral Sea....go North to the top of PNG and then West to about Borneo. We were at every Island (just about) within this area.... of particular note are Bougainville (we have a Peace Keeping force there now); Solomon Islands (Peace Force of sorts there too); PNG (lots of military advisers there) and East Timor (shit loads of our guys there now....UN mission but clasified as 'Active Service'). If anyone is interested in particular areas drop me a line and I'll find out. Cheers, AGAS 5 IP: Logged |
