I'll be the first to admit I don't know the first thing about painting, so is anyone out there willing to provide some skins for the "new" He 100 I'm constructing? The current skin is dark brown on top and grey on the bottom. In fact the very plane in the picture is two-tone green on top and light blue on the bottom! How did this happen? Because the one and only colour picture on the planet earth of the He 100 has either been hand-coloured or was simply a VERY bad print - in the same picture the grass is the colour of pea soup and the water is light blue. So I need a new skin for the plane. I would like to build the model for "white 12" which is seen in a number of photos and should be the best one to work with. Any of the skinners out there got some time? Maury IP: Logged |

I think the reason most people didnt attempt a reskin was the amount of confusing tifs involved. If you had them all mapped together on one or two tifs, I'm sure you'd have more takers.IP: Logged |

A little here, a little there. I'm seeing now just how much of the model simply used the existing Fw 190 model "as is" - there's a tonne of little movements and angle changes and such that need to be done, a TONNE. Man, how these guys can knock out a whole plane in a week or two floors me! quote: i could alter the mapped ki-61 model and send you that?
If you mean for the model side, I don't know if it's worth it. Much of what I'm doing is for the learning value, and I plan to write it all up for other newbies. quote: send me the tifs and plane and i'll see what i can do..
Ok. Honestly it shouldn't take more than a couple of hours of work. The colours have to be changed, the upper surface needs a cammo pattern, and some of the markings need to be moved from one place to another. Do you want me to send you scans of the paint job? Maury IP: Logged |

Raz, the ex-girlfriend cancelled my phone line (!!!) so it's going to be a bit before I can send you anything to look at. Maury IP: Logged |

Hi there Maury, I just happened to look at this messageboard again (1st time after 5 months or so?) and read your message. I made the He100 and it was my first plane (in fact is what the first all new 3rd party plane for SDOE). I didn't knew much about applying textures then and the tools at that time were very simple. I actually had to enter the texture mapping coordinates in the LOD-file by hand!!!! This means the texturing is very crude and simple, most of the parts haven't got good texture mapping coordinates at all! I suggest you re-map the plane before you paint it.cheers, Pieter (aka Vanderstok) IP: Logged |

Hi Yard! Still making those excellent textures? It's great to see that this community is still so full of life! btw: If you like racing, we could co-operate again for a project for the upcoming racesim World Sports Car, it will use the same concept as SDOE: open environment, dedicated programmers and a very accurate physics engine... see: http://www.simracingnews.com/article.php?page=1&id=6 IP: Logged |

I only read about WSC on the GPL sites a few days ago, but it does look interesting. I'm an enthusistic but rather crap GPL driver and just spent this evening learning the Ring despite playing the game for over 2 years! I had tried it before but learning 120+ corners is some task!! Well I managed to complete my first race there tonight, with a best of 9.18 (poor by the standards of the real pros but pleasing never the less).I'll keep my options open on WSC painting as I may have my hands full with IL-2 ------------------ Yardstick painted this IP: Logged |

Well, my driving skills are as good as my flying skills and I bet you remember what happened to me when we teamed up in our freshly painted bf109g's Well, it was one of my first online fights so I guess I have an excuse! Anyway: here's a link to one of my latest projects: http://www.geocities.com/vanderstok01/index.html See you around!IP: Logged |

Hey, welcome back! quote: I suggest you re-map the plane before you paint it.
Ok. For now I'll just work on the positioning of the various parts (moving the guns and gear and such). My artistic talents in both skins and 3D mapping is basically zero, but hopefully with some help we can update it. In the meantime I've learned a whole lot about the plane. I've got Ernst Heinkel's autobiography arriving by the time I get back from London (I hope anyway) so I'll be able to update it even more. In the meantime you might enjoy... http://www.csd.uwo.ca/~pettypi/elevon/baugher_other/he100.html Maury IP: Logged |
