The new engines are done mapped and in game.. With this plane we can do more historic missions over north africa and the pacific theater. I've wanted to do this plane for some time. Not only is the P-38J no longer a long, it has two friends coming soon in the forms of the F and L models. As soon as they get some engine DM and i make sure the FMs are up to date i'll post them both. Oh, and if your wondering. That scheme is historic and was used by the 27FS, 1FG in North Africa, early 1943. ------------------ Tony "Razer" Martin "Making SDOE a dangerous Place, One plane at a time!" PTO Pacific terrain. It's the terrain nat and diego did. It's just a retexture of africa terrain but it's the best pacific terrain out there now.. you can pick it up at Nats site..------------------ Tony "Razer" Martin "Making SDOE a dangerous Place, One plane at a time!" FS Hangar IP: Logged |

The P-38H in this photo shows what the F model looked like. the intakes was a lot different then the J model with slanted intakes and the L model was just a souped up version of the J. F saw a lot of action in the pacific so thats the main reason i made it. It also saw action in north africa so it will fix with the terrain we already have. it's hard to see the intakes in the images above but they are slanted and no have the 2 intakes instead of the big 3 like the J and L.. ------------------ Tony "Razer" Martin "Making SDOE a dangerous Place, One plane at a time!" Nice!They had to fit those extra radiators to stop an overheating tendancy. You don't want to go off to fight in the Pacific with a plane that runs hot! Funny old plane the P38..... The British would have used them a lot, but for a quirk in US export policy! The early P38's passed to the RAF for evaluation didn't have the superchargers fitted. As a result, they were never considered fit for combat over here! IP: Logged |

Actually WT, the radiators were put in because they were simplier than the method they were using. The water was cooled by running it through the leading edge of the wing through piping... it also somewhat served as a nice way of keep ice off the leading edge.. ;} The radiators were actually harder to hit during combat and causing the overheating problems... it also lowered the number of seals that could be corroded by the salt air in the PTO. I love this plane and it will be great to have the historically correct versions of the plane in missions. You da Man again Razer... ;}
