Hey looks sweet! Any chance of me getting an update? What prop problems are you exactly having? You might want to talk to WT about props. The main prop needs to be centered in AC3d or Max. You can tell if a prop model is centered by going into OPS and telling the prop DOF to align to the props orgin. If it doesnt go exactly in the center, then the prop model is not centered. You can also tell by looking at the inertia boxes after you import the new LOD. If the inertia boxes are way out of place, then the prop model is not centered.

That looks great Nat !! This is going to make for some fantastic eastern front campaigns ! I have some books on soviet planes will see if I have any juicy stuff on the IL-2 for you. I do remember reading that it was an extremely tough plane, very hard to shoot down. It did have one weakness though.. the belly was vulnerable can't remember why. TS

Tail! All data is very helpful, since all I've found is very basic information, top speed @ 4600ft, span, wing area, max hp, but nothing on roll rate, climb rate, actual loadout options (nothing clearly defined) I could do with any info you have so that I can make sure I'm within the correct range for the FM. You talked about the toughness of the IL2, Snickers was reading a book where a German Ace tells of his encounters with IL2's, and how he would watch bullets just bounce off it! The weak spot he found was the air scoop, the oil cooler is just inside it and one of the only un-armoured parts on the whole aircraft, the trick was to get underneath and your nose upm hosing the oil cooler. As you might expect, this wouldn't destroy the IL2, but it sure as hell put it down. This is modeled on my IL2 aswell But believe me, it's actually not that easy to take it out, more often than not the only way I've shot down the IL2 is by blowing the crap out of one of the wings.. I think I need toughen them up some in the DM really.Tony, thanks alot for the offer, I didn't want to ask you cause I knew you wanted a break, but I'll send her over and make some notes on the problems, if you can help out that would be a great help, I'll get it over to you either tonight or tomorrow, as always Tony, thanks alot Jeeves, Argon, Jug, I'll make sure you all get copies sent over for testing/nit picking etc Thanks guys The Winter skin will be the release skin, I need to work on it till I'm really happy with it, or if Diego has time and would still like to, then I'll let him do it, I have template skins ready and we all know he is a master at art work. What I really want to try and do is to get the IL2 finished for the same time as Stalingrad Terrain, and release them together, or at least within a week of each other, but there's so much more I want to add to the IL2 that it's taking a long time to finish, thats why Tonys help is realy appreciated cause I know I'll struggle to get the prop and shadows done quickly or even correctly. Thanks again, I love the way you guys help out {{{Group Hug}}} lol ~Nat~ IP: Logged |

Nat, You know that problem that I was ranting about? Well...I think I'm over it now. Seems like I cant stay away either. Just when I thought I could just drop off for a while, I'm sucked right back in. Send me that bitch! I'm on a skinning roll over here. As soon as I'm done with these skins, I'll jump right back into the snowpile IP: Logged |

LOLOL I know Diego, it's a major problem with this game, hell even if you don't fly it (which I rarely do) you just can't help but build and do stuff for it I'll send you through my 3 skins, winter, temperate and template, then you can tinker to your hearts content IP: Logged |

To be specific, the cockpit area was wrapped in thin sheet steel. As a result the MG caliber bullets would simply bounce off at anything over a few hundred feet. The same system was used on the german Hs 129. In the IL-2 I believe the armor did not enclose the gunner, just the pilot. So if we're putting in killable pilots, this should be taken into account. Finally this plane is just as suseptible to engine and control damage as any other. It was overbuilt in some ways, but it shouldn't be _that_ much harder to shoot down (as is evidenced by the thousands shot down). Maury IP: Logged |

The rear gunner wasn't protected thats true, and yes he's been killable for sometime now The armour enclosed almost all critical systems, but as for the wings and fuse, it wasn't armoured as such, but it was built around a toughend airframe so armour wasn't required, all spars and struts were much tougher than in almost any other aircraft. As for it having been shot down in large numbers, I don't doubt it, since even a tough aircraft can only take so much, and with a max speed of 250mph, those 109's can swarm over it easily. Still though, your points are valid Maury, but thats one reason why the engine and wing DM's are so very advanced. It is hard to put this aircraft down,. but it has it's weeknesses, and good cannon hits will do the damage very quickly, MG's just take longer, but I test against Spits and 109's, and the spit1a can take an IL2 down with the advanced DM Along the same lines TG has added the same engine DM to the 109e4, I've done some testing and I'm very impressed with the results Nice one TG!IP: Logged |

oh, the guns, it's the type3, not M3, so this one carries 2x27mm cannon, 2x7.92mm MG and a rear gunner with a 12.7mm mg, the M3 carried 2x37mm, but they were reportedly not as good as the 27mm, lower rates of fire and more prone to jams although obviously more kill power, but believe me, the 27mm split tanks open after a few hits, and aircraft are shredded when hit IP: Logged | |
