Hi to all!
I've tested this DirectX uninstaller, it works but be careful to make a backup of everything (I think there is a good readme provided with the uninstaller), especially your base registry.

From my own experience, I didn't have trouble with the uninstaller and I was perfectly able to re-install a previous version of DirectX.
Not tried with DirectX8 as mine works with no problem.
