With all the recent developments we indeed are moving to a fantastic sense of realism. I would like to suggest an idea. Killable pilots will change rules of engagement, you might not want to engage the enemy at a disadvantage. But how do you position your self for an attack without tipping of the enemy, how do you sneak up under thier belly?
Right now the F1 target makes that impossible. Is there a way to shorten the "padlock distant targets" mode to an even shorter distance? I would be so cool if you could spot the enemy before he spots you. When I mean spotting being able to tell recognize friend or foe and which direction they are headed at. Disengaging "bogey calls" would of course have to happen. We certainly don't want to fly a mission and never find the enemy but there must be a happy medium. Visually combing the skies looking for that glint would be very cool.

This is of course for online play.

If you did shorten the distance, you'd want to talk to a real combat pilot. One gentlemen said he uses the padlock in flight sims. His reason was because he'd need a projection TV and ultra high res board to make planes visible at the actual distance they are in the real world. (He flew in Korea)

I do think that it would be nice if the padlock could be changed so it only locks onto planes in the direction you're looking. I think these changes would require altering the source code though, and would need Mighty or MH to update one of the patches.

This has been talked over a lot in the past. It'll take a source change.
