LOL, sorry it's a little late. I have been trying to work in jedi's 3D tail features, still having some shading problems. I will go ahead and upload it. Maybe some day I will get lucky and get the 3D stuff sorted out (I have tried many times) There are just a few improvements. Aileron damage (Improved AI) Radiator and oil cooler located at bottom of plane (correct location) Intergated Condors engine damage Improved ground handling (AI now takes off) Flat tires Brake failure It is ready for download. Check in the Tech Section.

Can't wait to download this one, it just seems to get better. I think I'll paste all this stuff into the P51-b and see how it looks there......IP: Logged |

Hey Raider could you in the mean time (if you still got some)redo the prop model,it looks a little dirty compare with the rest of the plane don't you think? Keep up the excellent work...------------------ -=BAB=-lfbpro IP: Logged |

have u solved the problem of the heavy nose? I mean, I noticed it's quite a difficult thing to handle while landing... did u notice it? I even read about new landing gears...li'l b ------------------

Hmmm. Every time I do one of those 3D tails, I learn a new trick. If you have a 3D program, open up the stab, or whatever part doesn't look right. "Cut away" either the top or bottom surface (don't delete it, just separate it from the rest of the object). Move it a little bit, then move it back where it was. Now DON'T "re-weld" it or "optimize vertices" or whatever your 3D program does to "smooth." Just "merge" the two objects back together and save it as the new part.Sometimes the vertex optimization and smoothing can't deal with a sharp edge like the trailing edge of the elevator or even the squared-off edge of the stab, and it messes up the shading. Keeping the top and bottom surfaces "separated" allows the smoothing to only be applied across each separate surface. I can try re-working the P-51 tail again if you like. Probably best if I work on the "finished" version tho. We may be getting shading problems just from switching back and forth between 2 different 3D progs (I use AC3D). ------------------ --jedi-- IP: Logged |

It's one quirk of AC3D I took a while to get used to. I guess it confuses it with the same vertex being shared between 2 shaded surfacesIP: Logged |

Thanks for the input guys, I will fix the prop as soon as I get the ok. (Asking permission before I steal stuff) She is not as nose heavy in flight, near neutral at 200 mph, but when you lower the flaps it really requires back pressure to keep the nose up. I believe this is correct. I am going to increase the dampering of the landing gear springs for less bounce on landing. Thanks for the advice on the shading, I will give it another try, If I fail I will need help fixing it.

I can't keep the nose up or flare with full flaps it makes landings a bit strange.. TS

I agree that the flap characteristic's and FM in general still need to be worked on. All I did was raise the angle of the H stabs so it didn't fly so nose heavy and added a little weight to the tail. This helped the ground handling as well as the AI take-off. If the weight of the tail is increased to 700 lbs the AI take off much better but then the plane starts to be too unstable in turns. Other than that, the FM has not been touched. I still hope Pang can take care of this. The top speed, climb rate..etc all needs to be fixed. BTW, TS would you mind if I use your Great FastProp off the Yak? It is the best I have seen yet. IP: Logged |

about landings, Mustangs were known for their good landing attitude, especially the three points landing, while I'm still fighting against the li'l bit weak landing gears and the "heavy nose", as I open the flaps it points the prop down, and if u do it at low speeds it's very difficult to recover! Anyway I really appreciate the ground handling!!!!!IP: Logged |

I have done some tweaking, and am very happy with the results. I will try and upload a beta 5.1 tonight, but remember all this may go out the window when the final FM work is done. Working on a few details, will release 5.1 asap
