just tell me if this is a NO-BRAINER question.

I saw a video of view out the side of a b17 on takeoff and when the plane was still on the ground the wing where in the normal position but as the speed incresed and the wing produced lift the wing ever so gently bent upwards and stayed like that all the flight.
what i am trying to say is that could we build wing flex into the plane (and yes i know we get wing flex when we pull loads of gs but what i am talking about is just small movments on takeoff and landing to give the sence of wait and the emence lift that is being made but the wing of the very heavy aircraft.

Spanky here...

I thought right now that the bombers wings unflexed a bit when you dropped the bombload.

Might be wrong though.

If you look closely there is some flex in the wings already, at least for the Mosquito. When I first bought the game and was marvelling at the physics model I noticed that when pulling out of a relatively steep dive (almost steep enough to rip the wings off) the mossie's wings would flex. Never tried the same in other planes.

Yes, this could be done.. I am doing it for my Fokker EIII. It seems best to add an additional DOF for this to keep it seperate from the damage modeling DOF. But I imagine that these extra DOFs can add up. But maybe they are like adding extra airPts, MH said not to worry too much about it...

You could use the same existing DOF, but I think you could better simmulate what we're after using the extra DOF. The extra one would simmulate the normal "flex" and the other would simulate the bending and heavy flex under load.

If you wiggle the stick up and down the wing should "bounce."

yeah that would look cool if you hit some flack and it would make the wing bounce and shudder around.

I think the Mossie is the only a/c that you can actually be artistic with how much permanent bend you put in the wings the rest are either on or off.

Like this

You can do this quite easily and still land but as I said it is very hard to get it juuuust right on other a/c.

Most of the planes in SDOE have very inflexible wings.. this actually winds up having a pretty big effect on the FM too as stall/spin becomes harsher with inflexible wings.

Try taking up the yak and put it into a gentle turn while looking out the window.. you will see the wings flex as you enter the turn and unflex when you leave the turn.

It just involves making the wing DOF's more "springy"
