Yes, the cockpits are empty - do I miss
some pilot files? (...or just patience?)
And Happy new year everyone...
Thanx.

Has anyone else experienced this? I have reviewed my installation and the pilots for both the corsairs and the p51d are working.

The p51 pilot is cool to watch as his head moves to follow your joystick movement.

Periodically I notice the pilot missing online, if one or more pilots have ejected (or I have ejected / been shot down) and others are still flying. To my knowledge this isn't a new problem.

The pilots in my Spitfires, Typhhons and others are mssing but I'm too lazy to say anything about it. But my Corsair pilot is there.

Look in your media/pilot folder. There should be various pilot.sm files in there. Each Corsair has its own distinct pilot figure (necessary if you wish to have an animated pilot).

It's possible that PP6 did not include the pilot folder in a parfile (although I doubt this) or that the parfile did not include ALL the pilot.sm files. If you still have the old pilot folder from before installing PP6, you can safely copy those pilots into the media/pilot folder, and this should restore them. You MAY lose an animation feature or two if the pilot.sm for that plane has been modified recently.

You can also use OPS to see WHICH pilot.sm is referenced by the model itself (sometimes you need to look at the cockpit.sm file instead to find this). Then just make a copy of an existing pilot figure, rename it to the same name as the one referenced in the model, and you'll have a pilot for the plane. In this case, you WILL lose the animation features of the pilot, because they are keyed to the specific aircraft model itself.

The following pilot files are included in data11 of pp6.0:

B17pilotSit.sm
cors2pilotsit.sm
f4u1pilotsit.sm
f4u4pilotsit.sm
f4upilotsit.sm
gpilotSit.sm
gpilotSit1.sm
gpilotSit2.sm
Lancpilotsit.sm
LilgpilotSit.sm
LilpilotSit.sm
p51dpilotsit.sm
pilotSit.sm
USNpilotSit.sm

The following TIF files are also in this folder:
AFpilot.TIF
GermGunnr.TIF
germhelm03.tif
germpilot.TIF
Gpilotface.TIF
Oxygenmask.tif
USNpilot.ti
USNpilotface.tif

This is in addition to the pilot files as shipped with the game. If you have a plane in the pack that references a pilot file other than above or those in the original game, please ensure I have a copy of it for future releases. As you can see there is an extensive list already.

If you are experiencing a problem with lost pilots please, consider rebuilding your sdoecache.tex and sdoecache.dir (or cache.tex and cache.dir) files. If this doesn't repair the MIA's then I would appreciate hearing more. However, I don't know what else may be causing your problem. If further reports occur I'll investigate further.
