Finally got around to installing the Pacific terrain...or so I thought.First the batch file wouldn't run (didn't like the file names) but I ran it in DOS with the names renames to "media_~1.001" etc and it packed the zip file up...or so I thought. Then the zipfile had "errors" so I let winzip fix it...or so I thought. Then I installed it and it installed...or so I thought. Bottom line: the zipfile, tho it appeared to have all the files, actually had...er...no files. Which didn't stop it from overwriting numerous files with...nothing In particular the names.ppf file was trashed, which I think has rendered the mission editor inoperative. Any attempt to create a new mission (using ANY terrain) is met with a windows error and CTD. On the bright side, the sim still runs at least. On the dim side, no Pacific terrain, (the old beta was overwritten and destroyed) and a malfunctioning mission editor. I'm really not too keen on redownloading the whole thing again, since I suspect the same thing will just happen again. Is there someplace where the whole thing is mirrored in, say, one file? If Gozilla can read it, I can download it over several hours/days if necessary, but I have no confidence in my system's ability to reassemble the files as they exist on Nat's site ------------------ --jedi-- IP: Logged |

Hey Jedi, I'm sorry about that, I know what a pain it is having a long d/l that jut doen't work I really don't know what the problem is though, alot of people have been able to run the batch file without any problem at all, then other haven't, but I don't know if it's mirrored anywhere, no-one has said anything about wanting to mirror it, probably cause of it's size, but it would be handy if some one would cause then I can remove it from my site and link to the mirror d/l instead to dave this happening to others. The only thing I can think of is that for some reason some people browser/downloader is renaming the files or something, it's only data after all, the importnant part are the file names when it comes to rejoining them. If some-one can host 55mb then please mirror the terrain and let me know the link for it. Sorry Jedi ~Nat~ IP: Logged |

PS, the file names should be:Media.zip.001 to Media.zip.006 and Media.BAT If they are named anything other than this it wont rebuild, also it should just run in windows IP: Logged |

I had the same problem. I think there was a mismatching with one file name. When I downloaded the first one (media.zip.001), it was named media.zip.001.zip. As media.bat tried to merge media.zip.00x into one single file media.zip, it was not able to do cause the file name of the first I downloaded. So... I solved the prob by renaming the media.zip.001.zip to media.zip.001 and it was fine. Maybe it can help you.

then it sounds like windows is assiciating file extensions such as *.001 with zip files and adding the extension for you, maybe this is the the settings for winzip? IP: Logged |

OK, apparently each file was renamed to media_00x.zip by downloading somehow, so I renamed them to media.00x.zip.The batch file now runs fine. However, winzip still cannot unpack the file without finding "errors" and "fixing" them. After it fixes them, every single file in the zipfile is corrupt. It shows the first file in the zipfile as having NO name, but it's exactly the same size as the names.ppf file (an important file, no?) which appears later and contains "no data." Very weird, since the zipfile itself is 50 megs, but every single file extracts to a file of 0 bytes... Don't suppose you'd want to just make 6 zipfiles instead of the archive files, would ya? Asking a lot, I know... ------------------ --jedi-- IP: Logged |

Re-downloaded the files using the newest version of Gozilla (was forced to use Winblows/Netscape download the first time), and it appears that I now have "good" files, so hopefully the install will work this time...------------------ --jedi-- IP: Logged |

It worked! And it's very nice. I particularly like the huts on stilts Apparently the Netscape/Windows download protocol thingy is not very reliable for large files. Used Gozilla (new version, old version wouldn't intercept the files) and it worked without a hitch. ------------------ --jedi-- IP: Logged |

Great! Thanks Jedi, what I could do with is info from people on what they used to d/l the terrain, and if it worked or not so that I can make a big Download note on the page to hopefully save this happening to some poor dude thats doesn't use the forumSo far I believe that: IE 5 only downloads correctly GoZilla Latest Version works Netscape screws up (as per usual) Anyone reading this message, please post about what you used and if the download/instal went smoothly Thanks Guys Glad it worked out in the end Jedi ~Nat~ ------------------ 7./JG3 "Naturlich" "SDOE...
