Just picked this title up(9.99 canadian).
I bought it when it first came out(seems like years ago) But due to my slow computer at the time I couldnt run it well.
Now I have the computer to run it well I couldn't see passing this up for 10 bucks!

Would someone mind telling me what are the most necessary files I need to get up to speed with this sim?
Is there any add-ons that are a must have also?
Thanks

Hi Osprey,

I just picked up the game myself, and I can't wait to install it. You may want to find Spoonman. He has created a catch-up CD that has a ton on add-ons and patches. I figured that he had saved me at least 2 days of downloading. It cost me $8 for the CD and shipping and is well worth twice that. I no longer have his email, but you may be able to look him up on this board.

Happy flying.

Welcome aboard gentlemen. Say goodbye to life as you know it.

Go to the first page of the Fighter Squadron Information Center.

Go to "Help For Newbies."

Get the 1.5 patch (which also is a no-cd patch), the Plane Pack 6.0 file, and the Nations v2.0 file, and download them, and install in that order.

After that, as was just mentioned, simfiles can give you a lot of stuff, and you'll see all kinds of links to add-on sites all over this site, and in the forums, and in the downloads sections of the forums.

There's also about a million folks here on the boards who can give you help, and assist you in making your SDOE experience both safe, and enjoyable.

Again, welcome aboard.

Hi. One thing to remember about this game is don't be discouraged if you download something and it doesn't work the first time. It's usually something small like you don't have that aircraft yet or update. I find a lot of missions, great fun by the way, sometimes have the wrong side selected for a particular aircraft and the mission won't run. Go into the Mission Editor and fix it and away it goes. (Learn to use the Editor, adds a lot to the game.)If nothing else this forum is a great place. Lots of really helpful people hang around here. So just ask.
