Like the original, this Sea Mosquito is a modified Mosquito Mk VI and is the last in a trilogy of land based RAF aircraft converted for carrier operations by the Royal Navy. (the others being the Sea Spitfire and Sea Hurricane)The Sea Mosquito has an effective carrier launch and landing system that makes operating from correctly scaled carriers like the Ark Royal or Zuikaku practical and fun. This heavy twin engine aircraft needs RATO (rocket assisted take off) packs to launch from the deck and the ignition of these rockets is controlled by the pilot. In the download there is a comprehensive guide on how to operate the Sea Mosquito from the Ark Royal or Zuikaku and nine training missions. Features include: *Two animated crew (pilot's head moves with the stick and the navigator's head tracks enemy targets) *Updated damage model; for example if an engine suffers significant damage, the landing gear inside the engine cowling will not lower, making landing interesting *Load out includes a working torpedo (courtesy of ArgonV) as well as rockets and bombs *Engine exhaust pipes, moving control stick, radio mast, antenna wires, tail hook, folding wings and radome *Radiator grills and engine air scoops (added via skin) *Radar display box in cockpit (courtesy of Royohboy) *Aircraft can be flown from the navigator's position Special thanks to ArgonV for his parachute fixes and AUI for his merchant ship. (included in the Sea Mosquito zip file) cheers Mace available at the world's slowest web site; http://members.nbci.com/sdoe_mace/seamosq.html or if you already have Nat's excellent Ark Royal (from the Seafire or Sea Hurricane download) then go directly to the 632k zip file http://members.nbci.com/sdoe_mace/seamosq.zip for Fleet Air Arm Squadron's (801, 808 and 810) download the 415k zip file at http://members.nbci.com/sdoe_mace/faa.zip IP: Logged |

Hey mace this thing is cool. How long is the RATO meant to last for? I got about a minute of it which seemed a lot, I reached about 10000 feet at 150mph at 45 degrees climb angle! Also my co-pilot is all silvery and weird and the wings, when you press the button, flick inwards so fast the a/c rocks and then they slowly moce back down. ie you can't fold the wings.Other than that though its really cool. Thanks Snake IP: Logged |

Snake thanks for the feedback. RATO's are disabled at around 180 mph so if you maintain about a 10 degree climb out angle they'll switch off in about 20 seconds. Climbing out at a step angle means you don't get to 180mph early so you have the benefit of the RATO for a long time.To fix navigator texture just take a copy of the luffpilotf.tif and RAFpilot.tif files from the seamosq/textures folder and put them in the sdoe/media/pilot folder. I've fixed this on the download and sent you an update of the navigator.sm file To fix the wing fold problem just check your keyboard.inp file, the commands must be: cmdRATO = S cmdHookToggle = Q cmdWingFoldToggle = W cmdWingFoldUp = Shift W cmdWingFoldDown = Control W cmdCanopyToggle = O You can use any letters you want; but S, Q, W and O are the ones I use. *cmdCanopyToggle is used to operate a park brake after landing on the carrier deck cheers mace IP: Logged |

Mace,S = Slew, so I used R and still can not get the RATO to work. Also, we have been using Q for canopy and O for tailhooks for quite a while. You have them reversed in your readme and above. IP: Logged |

Jerry as indicated in the launching notes you need to keep the cmdRATO key depressed until you see the rockets ignite, pressing the key once may not ignite them. You can use any letters you want for the various cmd's, but S, Q, W and O are the ones I use.cheers mace IP: Logged |

As said above, S is slew mode. I tried assigning the S key for RATO's too, just for the fun of it, but then SDOE went into slew mode.IP: Logged |

Have modified the download to suggest to people they use the X key now for the cmdRATO. I had modified my keyboard.inp file so S did not activate slew mode. But again, you can use any key you like.Failure to ignite the RATO is odd. Tried the model on two different PC's and worked OK, you just have to hold the key down sometimes. Wing folding problem is unusual. Do the wings fold on the Seafire or F4u? cheers mace IP: Logged |

Mace, I have tried several different key combinations. I just can't get the RATO to fire! I have checked and double checked my ini syntax, it's exactly as you say it should be. It makes no difference if I hold the key down for long periods, tap constantly, tap once...nothing works. I have drowned half the fleet's Mossie pilots and co-pilots. Any suggestions?IP: Logged |

It works for me! This thing is great! Dont forget to turn takeoff wind on tho... Oh and you have to have your engines on and and you have to be traveling along the deck for the RATO to fire I believe. But this is awesome!!!!!!! Cheers Mace! IP: Logged |

Jerry you've got a frustrating problem there, e-mail me a copy of your keyboard.inp file and I'll take a look. For the RATO's to ignite the engines must be started first with the E key (as per instructions) but the RATO's can be ignited at any time after that. (the aircraft does not need to be moving) The RATO's cut out at around 180 mph so if you start a mission in the air below 180 mph you can have the benefit of the RATO's until you hit that speed. cheers mace IP: Logged |
