Those SMs aren't in the ZIP... I think your Komet is suffering the same problem as the He162 and the P-39 beta: the main part (ie fuselage)'s geometrical centre is too far forward. It should be around the CG. The result is limited pitch angles, and roll instability. See inthis thread Pete Hawk's description of the problem. Other than that, great! the 3D model is nice, and the landing errr... gear works like a charm. IP: Logged |

Click on the actual picture of the Me-163 to get the zip! I was looking for the words Me-163 and was getting frustrated before trying to click on the picture itself. That CG problem is "kind of" in this one too but it's not as bad as the other plane was. It could be moved back a couple hairs but it does really fly pretty well as is. Thanks Aladar!!

Wow! I love it! Thanks Aladar you have given SDOE a great Christmas present. We now have a plane that was wished for a long time and one that was also wished for on other sims but not delivered.It flys great and is a blast to watch as it streaks skyward toward the bombers trailing smoke like a rocket. The AI flys it just fine and aims right for the bombers. A couple of questions: do the ailerons move funny? Will the damage modeling include touchy landings with explosion possible? I assume there is no damage modeling yet as the bombers cannot kill it. Something I have noticed that I do not think we can fix. The AI always attacks the bombers by slowing down and trailing behind while firing. In reality they did not do this. Most zoomed and shot, and the jets never hung around they shot by and got off only a couple of rounds. Ive sent an updated SM file to Aladar that fixes the DOFs on the ailerons. Also updated the readme file as it was a tad bit outdated... The AI CTD fuel bug was fixed a while back.IP: Logged |

Oh yes, the Damage model isn't started yet, and it will have pretty sensitive landings when I'm done with that. I agree, its a pitty the AI slows down to attack. Maybe we should tell the folks at crosswind sims to change that since they have the code.IP: Logged |

Aladar...You are a plane making machine Thanks for a great plane that is loads of fun to fly. I do have a question--- what is a Jagdfaust and how would one use it-- I realize they are rockets, but none of my references list it or talk of how to use it. If Aladar updated the zip, the Jagdfaust should now be included. Jagdfaust are upward firing mortars/rockets that are triggered by a shadow when you fly under a plane. SWOTL had then and we tried to re-create it here in SDOE. Look in the readme for the command to arm it. When you get close to a formation of B-17s, arm the Jagdfaust and fly under a B-17 at full speed. Dont fly too close under the B-17, and dont fly too far away under the B-17. It takes about 3 runs to get the gist of it, but its rather simple and sure fire after a few test runs. If you get too close, the explosion from the B-17 blowing up will kill you, and if you fly too far away, it will miss.IP: Logged |

Aladar, AI will fly attack the bombers at high speed, if you you will set the aircVmin to example 440. I´ve tried that out and it works,but then you will get the next trouble,AI fly then like an japanese kamikaze against the bombers.Rendsburger IP: Logged |

Hey Rendsburger I nevewr thought of that! What a good idea! Jeeves, the Jagdfaust was a system devised at the end of the war to deal with the incredible closing speeds. The germans developed a light sensitive panel that would trigger the 10 shells in the wing roots when the shadow of a bomber would pass over the cell. It was a real success, but entered too late in the war.

But Aladar IS working on the Barracuda. Ive had a peak at this plane, and you will be amazed when it is released!  Hehehe... the "A & A team" I like that. We produced the Mistel, I helped on the Komet a bit and Aladar has helped me out on various occasions!  Cheers Aladar! IP: Logged |
