Ok, just installed it. It looks GREAT! FRIGGIN AWESOME! I really feel immersed in it all.

BUT there is one small problem... those palm trees! They do nasty things to my SDOE. When I flyover an airfield, I get this wierd flickering problem... like the game is trying to cut back on some graphic stuff so it can render everything. The cockpit reflections, gunsites and a good bulk of texture detail goes down the drain. Also the FPS are horrible! in the 20s and lower! I renamed the Palm1.sm and no more texture dissapearing and my frame rates are back up in the 60s over airfields.

Thus I ask you, could you dumb down the palm trees? Make them way more FPS and graphic texture friendly? You could release that for us people with these problems and keep the high detail palm trees for those people with 1 Gighz systems.

Thanks in advance!

This was something Diego and I discussed pre-release. A plan is already in place to do a reduced Palm1.sm, with far fewer trees. It should be with Diego tonight. We reckoned this might be a problem, but felt that the only way to go was to release and see what feedback we got.

Diego was getting 20 ish fps on his machine, I got lower, but mine is a low spec machine. No texture probs for either of us though.

I am happy to get 20 FPS anywhere near an airfield!

The fix is a simple one to do, and would only involve a tiny download, so there is no need to re-download the whole set of files.

Fix is already to roll! In fact, would have been ready Friday, but for an illness in the family.

Argon,
TG just sent me a variety of Palm tree SM files with a quantity ranging from 1-5 trees. This should take care of the variety of systems out there.

Thanks! I will guess and check to see which ones my system likes the best.

Cheers!

My system runs well with the 3palm1.sm

That includes a good number of trees and its more FPS and graphic friendly.
